Is East Tower the best dorm at UCSD?
Students rated East Tower a 4.2/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.
Seventh East Building 1 (Towers) Pros: There is a market nearby (Seventh Sandwich FTW), near the gym, has a game room and study room for the entire college with your ID, near the Rady school, has kitchens w/ ranges and fridge Cons: Far from all lecture halls, only dining hall nearby is Cafe V (meh), lots of noise from the main road nearby both in the morning (Delivery trucks) and night (Assholes who rev their engine, etc.), mail room closes at 3pm, honestly its just far from everything, sixth is a .8ish mile walk
Lived in the village my junior and senior year. Junior year my single was bigger than senior year single, but still fine. Building was nice and new on the East side. Biggest problem was the distance from classes because it takes > 20 mins to get places from the Village.
I lived in Seventh East Building 3 my junior year and I loved it! I had a double bedroom and then there were three single bedrooms in the apartment as well. The double was a great size and had plenty of space even though we couldn't loft the beds. The kitchen is a bit small but there is plenty of cabinet space and the refrigerator and stove are a decent size. Note that you will have to provide your own microwave. The bathroom worked fine, 3 sinks, 1 toilet, and 1 shower. Again, plenty of storage and hooks in the bathroom area. The location is pretty far walk from the center of campus, but it is the closest housing to the beach - walking distance! It is also conveniently located to the track, soccer fields, RIMAC gym, and the business school. The laundry room is on the first floor of this building. Seventh college also has its own market and dining hall. Overall 4.8/5 stars for sure! The photos HDH and Seventh College have on their websites are very accurate to what the inside/outside of the seventh college apartments look like.
Be careful if you get placed in either West or East Tower. Usually there are two elevators, but one of them WILL stop working for a majority of the quarter. It’ll take forever to get to/leave your apartment, especially if you live on floors 10 or higher.
I stayed in a double inside the East Tower. Our apartment had 2 doubles and 2 singles so a total of 6 of us living there. We had 2 bathrooms and 2 showers. We split 3 people per bathroom/shower. Loved living in the tower except for the broken evaluator that was never repaired.
