Is East Ecoflats 2-5 the best dorm at UCSD?

Students rated East Ecoflats 2-5 a 2.8/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

I had one bathroom for 6 people, got my bike tire stolen out of a locked bike storage room, the elevators constantly broke, and I got lucky that the triple I was in was larger. The only upside for the Village is the apartment-style layout with a kitchen, and the opportunity to meet fellow students.

Always super hot in the rooms and in the commons area, especially if your room doesn’t face the ocean. No A/C. I had a room right next to the garbage compactor and got to smell that lovely stench daily. Lighting sucked in the rooms. The light in my room didn’t reach my side of the room, and in other rooms it was directly over peoples beds. Lights in the toilet rooms burnt out a few times. Toilet rooms have no ventilation so they start to smell. Once found a black widow on the vent above the shower. Apartment was on the fourth floor with no elevator (absolute pain to move into). 30 minute walk to classes since all of mine were in Revelle. Felt detached from the campus since it was so far away from the main areas. Never any parking around there. I didn’t live in the tower, but I heard that the elevators were always broken. One of my roommates was even in one when it dropped three floors from the 9th floor. Upsides: Had three toilets and two showers. All in separate rooms so we rarely had to wait to use one. Near the beach and some places have an ocean view. The market, the bistro, and cafe ventana really close by. Gym not too far either. Quiet. Great location if you’re a business major. Plenty of areas to do laundry. Game room, study areas with a printer, and mail area close by. Amazon locker too. Maintenance responded quick and the people who cleaned the place were so sweet and did a good job.

It's pretty nice overall but it can get pretty loud. The doors are metal so closing the door can be really loud if someone doesn't really understand how to close the door. We had someone come to clean the common area every week which was really nice but if your roommate or housemate is really dirty then you might suffer. The rooms are pretty tiny and the bunk beds are old and not really comfortable. It definitely has a nice view (when you are outside) and the area is clean.

Extremely close to Rimac if you loves gym, but so far away from classrooms. You can enjoy having a market right down stairs, and dining at Bistro, but going to other facilities like Main Gym, classrooms may be far.

Cramped rooms but an open kitchen and living room. Having a separate bathroom and shower area was convenient when sharing with 5 other girls.
