Extremely close to Rimac if you loves gym, but so far away from classrooms. You can enjoy having a market right down stairs, and dining at Bistro, but going to other facilities like Main Gym, classrooms may be far.
It's pretty nice overall but it can get pretty loud. The doors are metal so closing the door can be really loud if someone doesn't really understand how to close the door. We had someone come to clean the common area every week which was really nice but if your roommate or housemate is really dirty then you might suffer. The rooms are pretty tiny and the bunk beds are old and not really comfortable. It definitely has a nice view (when you are outside) and the area is clean.
Always super hot in the rooms and in the commons area, especially if your room doesn’t face the ocean. No A/C. I had a room right next to the garbage compactor and got to smell that lovely stench daily. Lighting sucked in the rooms. The light in my room didn’t reach my side of the room, and in other rooms it was directly over peoples beds. Lights in the toilet rooms burnt out a few times. Toilet rooms have no ventilation so they start to smell. Once found a black widow on the vent above the shower. Apartment was on the fourth floor with no elevator (absolute pain to move into). 30 minute walk to classes since all of mine were in Revelle. Felt detached from the campus since it was so far away from the main areas. Never any parking around the...
Cramped rooms but an open kitchen and living room. Having a separate bathroom and shower area was convenient when sharing with 5 other girls.
I lived in the Village East for both of my transfer Junior and Senior year. I absolutely loved living in these apartments. It's a good idea to join the FB transfer groups so you can request a roommate that has similar values to yourself. The kitchen is decent with plenty of shelving space but the fridge is pretty small. The bathrooms are on each side of the apartment with the shower and toilet together. The sink for one of the sides of the apartment was outside of the actual toilet and shower which was good so you could get ready for a party while your friends are puking from pre-gaming. I met some of my best friends while living here. The laundry for the East tower is very close but if you're like me and you only do landry 1x a week I rec...
There are three different categories of the Village: Village West, Village East, and Village Towers. East is where I lived, and were by far the most spacious of Village Apartments. No there aren't any sweeping views of the ocean, but you've got access to elevators. By far the easiest of access via motor vehicle, and the quickest path to the Market and Bistro. My very strong advice is to put out for the single room. Is it costly, yeah it is, but most everyone I've met who lived in a triple room realized that you can actually put a price on privacy and peace of mind. The single rooms vary willy based on placement, but you should have the ample space to rearrange the room to you liking, or leave as is. Access to the campus is easy enough, i...
I had one bathroom for 6 people, got my bike tire stolen out of a locked bike storage room, the elevators constantly broke, and I got lucky that the triple I was in was larger. The only upside for the Village is the apartment-style layout with a kitchen, and the opportunity to meet fellow students.
