Is Regan Hall the best dorm at UC Davis?

Students rated Regan Hall a 3.2/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

Absolutely awful. The walls and ceilings are paper thin and I can hear everything. There's only one common area so basically no place to study if your room isn't an option; there's only one bathroom on each floor and for only one gender. Only one laundry site, one common kitchen for all seven buildings at the main area outside of the dorm which is incredibly inconvenient if you're looking to cook on the weekends or in general. Bike parking is also so insecure; unlike the other buildings where there's a sort of shelter type area for the bikes (also brightly lit at night), Regan bike parking structures are hardly lit and many bikes have been stolen. This place also has quads--basically 4 people are sharing a common space with two in each separate room and they're still paying the same price for a double. I also noticed that compared to other dorms, there are not nearly as many outlets.

There’s only one bathroom per floor. So if ur a dude who lives on the second floor u gotta walk all the way downstairs and if ur a girl who lives on the first floor u gotta go upstairs for the bathroom. Also the dorm building is surrounded by a bunch of trees so if u have seasonal allergies it’s gonna be a living hell. Try and avoid Regan at all costs.

What I mean by an "Other room type" was that my roommate and I shared an extra small double, and there was a shared desk space room that was connected to another double room. Basically our "double" was the line piece shape in Tetris, and there was a square room that connected us to another line piece double. So our actual 2 person personal space was really small. Regan hall isn't one building, it's a collection of smaller older halls in a separate area. I hadn't heard about this area before moving in because they never bring tour groups around that area, because the buildings aren't just a little old; they're extremely old. Even when it's winter, the rooms here are stuffy. The AC/heater is old and barely works. The multiple halls here are typically 3 stories tall, and there are only stairs, no elevators. On each given floor, there's only ever a female or male bathroom. So if you're unlucky, you may have to go down or up to another floor to use the restroom. If you choose Segundo, there's a chance you may be put into this area, and if so, I recommend you submit a change of room request as soon as it's available (mid-October usually). I moved into another hall in Segundo, and it was light years better. Don't hesitate to leave.

Oldest dorms on campus, women’s restroom was upstairs, there are just overall better dorms on campus.

The Regan complex is walking distance from the Segundo DC (the best one), Segundo Services, and the ARC. The buildings themselves get a bad rap for their outdated style and lack of amenities but tend to foster tight-knight communities. Has a summer camp atmosphere.
