Potter Hall Reviews
UC Davis
Reviews Summary
Potter Hall is an older dorm building with a mix of pros and cons that students have reported over the years. While the dorm boasts spacious rooms, especially corner triples, it lacks modern conveniences commonly found in newer dorms. The rooms, though generally adequate in size, can feel cramped in certain locations due to layout constraints, especially between bathrooms. Residents appreciate the friendly custodial staff who clean the shared bathrooms daily, maintaining a standard of cleanliness despite frequent student messes. However, the dorm's water service is inconveniently limited to a dispenser on the first floor, requiring residents from upper floors to travel to refill. The building is also quite old, with common issues like elevator breakdowns, weak heating in winter, and nonfunctional air conditioning. The lack of in-building kitchen facilities is a downside, but the nearby Wall Lounge offers a well-equipped kitchen for students willing to make the trek. Despite its distance from the dining hall and classes, Potter Hall is surrounded by friendly residents, sunny social areas, and offers beautiful views that enhance the overall living experience.

Its nice and all but definitely an older building. Water dispenser only on first floor and I was on the 4th floor so would have go to up and down 3 floors just to get water. The front door breaks a lot too and there's repair people every month or so

Pros: Room is spacious for three people. Custodial staff are super sweet!
Cons: Far from the dining hall, but we had a kitchen in the common area (Check out Wall Lounge)

It was okay, the area was pretty far from everything and the people there were really friendly! Cons I did say before area and the rooms were tiny for three people,at least for mine

I lived in a triple, but I didn't feel like it was super crowded (although I had a corner room so it might have been a little larger). Unfortunately, Potter seems a little older and it's further away from the dining hall. I also would have liked for there to be a kitchen. I think air conditioning was decent, but I remember the heating being a little weak in the winter.

I lived in a triple it seemed smaller than other triples but it was probably due to the room location(between 2 bathrooms). I liked that the bathrooms were cleaned everyday. The elevator often broke do I had to walk up 4 flights of stairs. Oh and our air conditioner never worked. The view from our room was nice but the building felt older than dorm buildings near by.

The elevators would break down a LOT but the repair staff worked often and diligently according to students’ maintenance requests and complaints. It was usually the floor’s students making the bathrooms a mess but custodial staff were pretty good about resetting the quality every day. My biggest qualm with this hall is that there was only a water refill station on the first floor where most halls had them on every floor. Potter’s a bit old. It doesn’t have a kitchen on the first floor either but Wall Hall, with its decked out kitchen, is only a short walk away.

Kind of far away from classes but the buildings themselves were pretty nice quality. Had a bunch of social areas, nice building, and the room I had was nice. The room itself was small, even though I was living alone. The thing I hated the most was the fact that bathrooms were shared and walls are thin. No kitchen in the building itself either.
