Pine Hall Reviews
UC Davis
Reviews Summary
Pine Hall, one of the newest residence options on campus, offers a mix of positives and some challenges based on student experiences. The rooms can feel cramped, especially when configured as triples, but proper storage solutions can help. Doubles, however, are more comfortable in size. The location is a significant draw for residents, being just a short walk from the dining commons, Latitude, and central campus buildings like Geidt Hall, TLC, and the gym, which some students find incredibly convenient for early classes. The dorm's windows and proximity to campus landmarks like the Davis water tower create a pleasant environment for study and relaxation. Unique all-gender communal bathrooms are maintained well by both custodial staff and students, making them mostly clean and accessible. While some students mention getting used to the nearby cows' smell, they appreciate the reduced odor due to Pine Hall's relative distance. The common areas and window nooks offer excellent spots for socializing, providing a conducive environment for making friends and easing the transition to college life. Challenges mainly arise from occasional laundry facilities maintenance issues and the feeling of overcrowding in certain room configurations. Despite these drawbacks, Pine Hall is appreciated for its modern design, good air conditioning, clean ambiance, and social atmosphere.

The rooms were really small as triples but if you’re lucky enough to get a double it’s not too bad. The building is fairly new so there are nice and modern common space. My floor had coed bathrooms so sometimes they would get kind of gross, but they were usually pretty clean depending on the students living there. The water pressure and temperature was also not the best. Location was prime though, it‘s really close to Latitude and the Silo.

everything about pine is pretty good. the bathrooms are pretty clean and the custodial staff does a wonderful job. the rooms are on the smaller side but manageable. the laundry room is the biggest flaw as some washing machines and dryers have been out of order for multiple weeks.

I've loved the social environment of Pine Hall and I've considered myself super lucky to have such cool dorm mates. They've definitely made the transition to college a lot easier. The common room made it pretty easy to meet people at the beginning of the year, and continues to be a great place to study, hang out, or meet new friends.
As far as the building goes, I like the relational proximity to other things on campus. It's just a short walk over to the dining commons and it's one of the closest dorms to Latitude. It's also the closest dorm to central campus, making it especially easy to get to buildings such as Geidt Hall and the TLC. Pine is also the farthest tercero dorm from the cows, which minimizes the smell a bit. However, I got use...

Kinda actually awesome. Lived in a triple and we had plenty of room as long as you make sure you have proper storage systems. bathrooms are spacious and clean and plentiful, I don't think I ever waited for a shower. Its pretty close to both Tercero DC and Latitude, maybe 2 min walk max. Doesn't smell like the cows, and its incredibly close to classes. If you have an 8am at Giedt like I did you can literally roll out of bed at 7:55 and be on time.

I lived in a triple but only one other girl was ever there so it felt very spacious. It was perfect location-wise; very close to classrooms, dining halls, and the gym. It’s far enough from the cows that you aren’t inundated by the smell too often. My room was right by a tree which meant we never saw the sun, but that’s good in hot times to keep the room cool.

The rooms were small, but as an EE major it was nice to have the main EE building less than 5 minutes away.

Location ia great since it is a 2 minute walk to the Dining commons and most lecture halls are close by. Thats the end of the good stuff.
This room was complete trash. They shoved THREE people into SINGLE. I was paying so much money to be living in incredibly crowded conditions. Finally switched over to Segundo because the area is 100x better.

One of the newest halls on campus, right on the edge of Tercero. Super convenient location since its right opposite Latitude (the new DC), Giedt, and Kemper. Rooms are a little smaller than other halls, but Pine has better AC, more spacious bathrooms, and a new clean vibe.
