Is Miller Hall the best dorm at UC Davis?
Students rated Miller Hall a 4.3/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.
I lived in Miller Hall during the 2009-2010 school year, and back then it was the dorm for the Integrated Studies Honors Program (ISHP). ISHP seems to have moved to a different dorm since then, so my social experience probably won't be applicable for people moving in here in the future. Overall, the building & accommodations were fine. Definitely nothing sub-par, and some parts of it were quite nice. I can't make any promises that this is still true ten years later, though.
Really far from classes (but in general the Segundo dorms are like that) also no kitchen :(( but the nicest Segundo dorms with Tercero-like newness and big big windows
The wifi was really slow (at least from my room) so i'd recommend using an ethernet cable. also, the water sucked ass. please bring/buy your own water filter. if you have bad allergies, good luck during spring cuz there are a TON of flowers and stuff right outside the hall
Miller hall is super convenient! There's a parking lot right behind the building that security never checks so you can park for free. since it's at the very top edge of campus, it's super close to a rite aid, trader joe's, the gym and frat row/circle. that being said, it's pretty far from classrooms, but nothing a bike or leaving early can fix. plus, it's in segundo, which has the best dc. there are 5 single gender bathrooms on each floor. i think each year, they change the gender for the bathrooms, according to the ratio of boys to girls on the floor, so there's always a 2 to 3 split. bathroom gets cleaned everyday, except the showers, so the hair build up can be really gross. since miller is right by frat row, you occasionally hear parties and people talking loudly as they walk pass. the hall has a nice central lounge area on each floor, which fosters a more welcoming community. a study room, tv, laundry room and water fountain is found on the first floor. i never had a problem w the wifi, i only used it for streaming, school and video chats so gamers might have a diff experience. there's a bulletin board on the wall for you to pin up decorations. "full length" mirror is placed behind the door. trash can and recycle bin is provided. there is a trash chute on each floor. I have attached an image of my side in a double dorm. my roommate's side is almost mirror image.
I loved Miller hall and everything it had to offer. 2 minute walk from rite aid, 5 minute walk from trader joes and gas station. We were also insanely close to the ARC and DC!! As for classes, we were a bit far but that's the whole freshmen bike experience! Overall, loved dorming at Miller.
