Is Kerr Hall the best dorm at Northeastern?

Students rated Kerr Hall a 3.3/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

I was excited to live in the music llc but did not expect kerr to be this crappy!!! the building was originally a hotel so it has a different set up than other dorms. there’s a practice room on the first floor but someone was always in there. I lived on the third floor and did not like it at all. bathroom was always so nasty, hair in the showers, ppl would throw up in the sink. hallways always smelled of weed. there were parties every weekend. I could hear everything from my room. the room was freezing in the winter and so hot in the summer. kerr is probably the worst dorm on campus. the people were nice though!

I lived in a triple on the 6th floor during Fall 2019. It was cramped and it felt like they gave 3 guys the room meant for a double, and just called it a "triple." The halls smelled like weed 95% of the time, so do what you will with that information. The bathroom was pretty clean, but they gave the guys the wrong bathroom without urinals, and the girls had the floors with a guy's bathroom, so that's another thing to note. The bathroom showers were also separated wall by wall, but only had a curtain covering the entrance of each shower. The hall did have a soundproof and spacious music room on the first floor, equipped with many functions to reproduce different effects such as stage, auditorium, stadium, etc. The elevators were really slow and small, it could fit 4 people comfortably at most, but moving in was really difficult. The stairs were faster for us even going to the 6th floor. The building is quite old and across from the Fens, so you can hear events going on at Fenway, which was bothersome at times. The ceilings were also really low. I attached a picture, but to explain, in combination with the bunk beds and low ceilings, you would sleep a couple feet below the pipe above and I would sometimes hit my head on it. During my time, the heater in our dorm broke off the wall and started leaking, although we were able to ask maintenance to fix it within a day or two. There is also no AC, and rooms are carpet, so they do get pretty warm in the fall, so bring a fan if you are assigned this hall.

The building is kind of funky but some rooms are pretty big (mine wasn’t though), and overall I didn’t mind living here. the heat was really unpredictable all over the building and there were a ton of people who smoked and played instruments really loudly, which is a definite drawback, but it was the music LLC, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. at least it didn’t feel like a prison like some of the other dorms!!

I lived in an economy double and it was TINY. If you don't like your roommate, good luck (we could literally hold hands while sleeping our beds were so close). The amenities are fine, no issues with the bathrooms (corner shower is the best!) And it was good and bad to live on the fenway. You're closer to Target etc but it's a long walk to classes. Overall a fine place to live freshman year.

Room sizes varied greatly. The building is fine and has a printer. Basically all the building except laundry and bathroom areas have carpet flooring. It's not far from classes by any means, it's just that some dorms are even closer. The bathroom in Fusion was always a mess. Even on weekdays there would be vomit and blood and whatnot in the toilets and sinks. Nobody flushed. Ever. And nobody had the decency to wipe the toilet seat behind them after standing (men's room of course). If you want to sit, make sure you check for liquids :-)
