Is 407 Huntington Ave the best dorm at Northeastern?

Students rated 407 Huntington Ave a 3.7/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

Building Plus: Not much that I have in mind. Microwaves are included in kitchens. Minus: No lounge area, no water fountain, quite a bit of distance from mail collection point (Speare Hall) Right next to train track so that would be a problem if you are a light sleeper. Room: Stayed in standard double in 4BR 1B apartment. Decent space in rooms (bedroom, living room and kitchen)

Spacious rooms, bathroom was newly renovated and is very nice and modern. Fully equipped kitchen with microwave. Only possible concern is the front-facing rooms do face out towards the T which can be heard passing quite frequently. You get used to it pretty quickly, it may be a problem for light sleepers though.

Lived here with three other roommates for a year and had the corner, circular room that overlooked Huntington. All-in-all, it was probably one of my most favorite dorms just because it was laid back and had an excellent little living room space. There were cockroaches that we had to kill on the first few nights, but those things are smaller than the rats that lived in White Hall. As others have noted, the Green Line might keep you up late at night (especially when they decide to do repairs at 3am with a bright blow-torch). The kitchens were fairly different between the units, and we lucked out with one that featured a full-size oven and microwave. Other units that face the back have smaller kitchens, so we'd often share the space with our neighbors. There was only one bathroom in the unit but it's manageable if your roommates don't spend too much time in there--otherwise I would sometimes have to shower at work while on co-op. The location is probably the best part, and if you get a Huntington-facing room, the sunsets are beautiful every time. Don't expect much out of the elevator, it's slow and old.

It’s a pretty old building, but my experience with it was much nicer than my experiences with other old dorm buildings at NU. I didn’t have any issues with pests, and the apartment (2 singles, 1 double) had plenty of space. The building was reasonably clean. You can definitely hear the green line going by, so if you’re a light sleeper it may be an issue, though I was near the front of the building so it may be fine in the back. My only real complaint was the lack of AC, but I lived here for a summer term and it wouldn’t be a huge issue for fall or spring. I also really enjoyed the location, as it’s a quick walk to anywhere on campus.
