Is International Village the best dorm at Northeastern?
Students rated International Village a 4.2/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.
I've been forcibly assigned to the tiny shit room in iv, I really hate this room. Very very small, bunk bed, no place to put your suitcase, no AC, no kitchen, forcibly meal plan and when two people try to get out, they get stuck because it's too narrow. The only good thing is that it is close to the campus.
The shared bathroom between 2 doubles was nice but the walls are THIN. i'm talking could hear phone conversations from the other 2 girls in the adjacent rooms (and sex...not ideal). It's a huge hall which was nice to make friends. Classrooms in the basement were great for movie nights (I was there for Summer I so they were never really booked at night). Elevators are very slow and prone to breaking down which is never fun. Rooms are also not great for hanging out in but we used to fit 12 people into a single and it was fine
PROS Swanky new rooms/building/bathrooms Everyone is forced to have a meal plan ($$$) Best views of the city, only EV has better views Very empty, private gym Classrooms in the basement you can use at night CONS SO isolating No community Fire alarms go off like every other fucking day Windows don't open?? They don't let anyone enter the courtyard?
I lived here for quarantine housing during Spring of 2022. The room itself is a bit narrow, but it is fine for one person living. Very clean, and quiet with a window for natural sunlight. The bathroom is connected to another room so you will have to share another person (doors locked from both sides when you click a button). Would recommend this room if you're living by yourself. IV cafeteria too!
It is nice enough, but it has that sort-of sterile feel to it. The one key benefit to this dorm is that everything tends to work as intended because it is newer. Having a dining hall requirement sucks, but it is convenient to have it there. No kitchen is a huge bummer and the rooms are small. Being next to Ruggles if you can get to co-op via the T is huge.
