Is Weaver Hall the best dorm at UF?

Students rated Weaver Hall a 4.5/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

Rooms are updated and nice with lots of window space. It is the international dorm so you meet a lot of new people who are generally older than freshmen. If there is a down side it would be that the halls can be noisy on weekends and that the bathrooms can get real nasty sometimes. Hall does have an elevator and trash-chute which is very convenient.

One of the nicer dorms you can find on campus. I actually really enjoyed staying in Weaver my freshman year. It’s right by one of the dining halls and Reitz so it’s super convenient if you have a meal plan. The walking distance to most of campus can seem like a lot but I’m someone who really doesn’t enjoy walking and once the weather became cold, I was constantly walking to my classes since the weather was so nice. During the hotter months, I would take a bus. I was lucky and barely had any noise problems except for my neighbors playing music sometimes, but turning on any white noise always drowned them out. Laundry was also easy since there’s an elevator, although there was one time that it was broken and I had to haul my laundry up four flights of stairs. Overall, I would live here again, but I switched to an off campus apartment because I wanted my own kitchen. There are kitchens in Weaver, but they’re shared by the floor.

It's the international dorm so you get to meet people from around the world. It has wood floors and the hallways are wider than other dorms. The lighting is a warm yellow rather than harsh white. The kitchen and common room are quite big. There is also a study room on the first floor, a game room in the basement that has a HDMI projector, and a laundry room. There is weaver beach, which is basically a lawn that you can picnic on. The famous Mudfest is on that lawn. The dorm is in a really good location too. There is a swimming pool and a Chomp It (on-campus convenience store) just down the hill. It is also next to O'Connell Center and super close to the stadium. The main campus is just down stadium road. It will probably take you 10-15 min to walk to the main campus/HUB area. If you don't want to walk, (I'm not judging) there are 3 bus stops super close by. The gym (Student Rec) is about halfway down stadium road, so it's pretty close to this dorm as well. It's also right next to the gator dining building (2 min away). There is a parking lot for faculty and guests in front of the building, and student parking about 5 min walk away. There is also a whole clan of cats that lives in the woods next to the lawn. There is a super friendly cat dubbed Tenders, that you can pet and give treats to. :) This dorm also has an elevator that you can use daily. Usually, most other dorms use the elevator only for moving in/out. The mailroom is super close too (2 min away).
