Best freshmen dorms at UF?

For freshmen, Simpson Hall is one of the best options. It’s been recently renovated, so the rooms feel a lot newer than most dorms on campus. The hardwood floors, individual room-controlled AC, and built-in storage make it a comfortable place to live. Bathrooms are communal but cleaned daily, and the location is solid—it's not right in the middle of campus, but there are bus stops nearby, and it's close to the Reitz Union and dining options like Gator Corner and Chomp It. It’s also a pretty social dorm, especially with the common areas and outdoor spaces around it.

Beaty Towers is another good option if you’re looking for more privacy. It’s apartment-style, so you get a small kitchen and your own bathroom shared with your suitemates. It’s quieter and less social than some of the other dorms, but great if you prefer to cook your own meals and have a more independent setup. The tradeoff is it’s a bit further from the center of campus, and the elevators can be hit or miss, but overall it’s a solid choice—especially if you’re not planning to be on a meal plan.

Both are good for different reasons—Simpson is more traditional and social, while Beaty gives you more independence and privacy. Just depends on what kind of experience you're looking for.
