Wow did I love my time in Rawlings! I had a special suite so I had my own private bathroom in our room that we shared with one other room that connected through the bathroom. It was cleaned often and kept very clean. If someone was in there, we always had the option to use the communal bathroom. While Rawlings Isnt the prettiest dorm, our double suite was giant, WAY bigger than any of the regular double rooms that doNt have the private bathroom. The pod market and subway attached was my best friend and the location and proximity to classes and the library was just unbeatable. AMAZING DORM. Get the DOUBLE SUITE if you can. :) my only complaint is Rawlings is freezing and you aren’t allowed to make it warmer inside.
Rawlings is absolutely not one of the nicer dorms, but it’s not as bad as people make it seem. Yes the bathrooms are pretty bad, there is a weird smell in the rooms/hallway, and you can’t bunk/raise the beds, but it has an absolutely unbeatable location (in my opinion, the best of any dorm). It also has a great study room and a really social atmosphere. If you’re not planning on spending a lot of time in your room, this is a great place to live.
Location was fantastic! The floors were social and fun. I loved the proximity to the bus stop, subway, dining hall, reitz Union, and all classes. This was the perfect freshman dorm. Warning: my air conditioning unit DID leak and would only work at the highest setting. Being on the fourth floor was rough for laundry day in the basement, but I got killer calves.
Perfect location: bus station right outside, library & classes are a minute away, and a POD market with a subway is attached to the building. There’s a parking garage right next to it and Jennings parking just a short walk away. Broward dining & chick fil a are also very close, as well as broward Rec center (courts, skate park, volleyball, pool). However it’s very old and dust will gather on everything no matter how much you clean. A lot of people got sick just being in the dorm. Get an air purifier for the room, or even two can’t hurt. Also I’d recommend using paper towels when opening bathroom & room doors when possible to avoid direct contact. It’s very social and usually has a lot of people in Greek life. I made a lot of friends here ...
The location of Rawlings Hall trumps the communal bathrooms and small room sizes. If you live on the fourth floor, be ready to get a good leg workout in. You’ll meet a lot of people in the common areas and it’s easy to make friends since you’re all so close together. The Subway and POD market are connected to Rawlings and make getting late night snacks easier than ever. Plus, it houses one of the most frequented bus stop, which is fully covered.
Even though Rawlings isn’t a pretty or even nice dorm, the location goes UNMATCHED. You have the pod store right out which has a subway and any food you might need, as well as a bus stop to take you all over campus, and also Broward dining right next door. As far as cleanliness, its a dorm and as long as you keep your room clean you shouldn’t have many problems with any bugs (I only had one roach my entire time staying there). The bathrooms are cleaned daily so I never noticed them being dirty, but in comparison to other dorms the quality of the bathrooms was lesser. One of my favorite parts about Rawlings was the Study Room on my floor which was perfect for studying because I was usually the only one out there and I always had my spot whic...
The location of this dorm was ideal, but that‘s about the only plus I found while living here. The room’s ceilings would shed debris and dust over everything in our room and there was a huge mound of mold growing right outside our window that caused my roommate and I to get sick.
