Is 481-483 Comm Ave the best dorm at BU?

Students rated 481-483 Comm Ave a 3.5/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

I enjoyed living in 481-483 Commonwealth as a freshman. The carpet, walls, and door were a bit old so it was not the nicest place to live. My quad room had abundant space for the 4 of us as well as good closet space. Natural lighting was great in the morning the ceiling light was quite dim. The in-room bathroom fixtures and tiling were old but the floor bathrooms seemed to be more newly renovated. The building is at the eastern point of campus so all classes and campus activities are a long walk away. The BU shuttle stops directly in front (technically, behind) the building. However, the building is situated right on Kenmore Square and a short walk away from the Pru/Newbury and Fenway. Having Myles right across is very convenient as well with its common rooms and study areas. No air conditioning and heating can be a bit unreliable. Not a luxury or aesthetically pleasing dorm but a mostly comfortable living situation.

Before I lived here I could not find ANY info on this building. I honestly loved living here, right in Kenmore square, your front yard is the comm ave mall "park," and its a really short walk to Newbury. THERE IS NO ELEVATOR IN THIS BUILDING. I lived on the fourth floor and honestly, it sucked walking up and especially while moving, but if you don't mind stairs, then go for it. I had a single, it was really small, but i liked it. My friend had a double and it was huge, had huge bay windows, and a private bathroom. The basement is actually the ground floor, connected to beacon street. So you can enter the building from beacon street too which is super convenient. If you were to live in the "basement" you could enter through the beacon street door and not have to take any stairs down to your room or to the laundry room which is really nice. Your mail gets sent to Myles, right across the street. Walking to the dining hall was kinda rough when it was cold out, but its the same distance walk as myles so its definitely doable.

I lived in 481-483 Commonwealth Ave. It’s a brownstone right on Kenmore Square, practically next to Myles and the T Station. This place was amazing for what it was, yes it was a triple, but it was quiet, the room was surprisingly big, and we had a sink in it, even though the bathroom and shower was right outside our dorm. The BU Shuttle would stop outside Myles so it was easy to get anywhere, you could access the building from Comm Ave or from Beacon St. The T being so close also made it easier to get anywhere, plus central campus buildings weren’t more than a 10 minute walk away.
