Is Bay State Road Brownstones the best dorm at BU?

81-83 Bay State Rd. Liked the fact that singles were big and its really close to the Marciano dining hall. Also close to Kenmore and Newbury. But the stairs were awful, dust is everywhere, and the first time I stepped into the bathroom I had to kill a bug stuck in the tub. The carpet floor is dirty, no matter how many times I vacuum that place. The light is pretty dim and the window.. I faced the wall so pretty much no light. Really makes you feel depressed after a while, so recommend you going out with friends often. No one interacts in this building, ever. Don't know why but its silent all day and night. Shared a bathroom (one toilet, one bath tub) with 6 other people so not too bad. No air conditioning, heater always has problems because its so old. I felt so bad calling the facility to fix it because the guys were panting like crazy when they came up the 5 floors and were so upset when they had to go back down to get something - there is an elevator, that is out of use because its 100 years old and is no longer safe. Laundry in the basement, but it is creepy and really doesn't seem clean. So recommend walking 2 minutes to Kilachand's laundry room instead. Mailbox is also in Kilachand but packages are at the Towers, so you have to walk a bit but its not too bad as you can get it on the way back after class. Kitchen on the first floor is alright, but people just leave their food in the fridge and forget about it. Also, looks very unhygienic.

We had a mouse problem during the end of the fall semester and the beginning of spring semester. Multiple girls including myself complained about it, but my roommate had mouse shit literally building up behind her bed where the mice where getting in, maintenance said it was because of the poor construction of the building, but only installed trim and the mice still figured out how to get in through another crack. The mice chewed through all my roommate's food, and we had mouse traps in our room scared they'd snap in the middle of the night and we'd wake up to a dead mouse. I spent a lot of nights listening to mice skitter in the walls and afraid they'd hop onto my bed. It was sad considering how nice our dorm room was (it's way bigger than freshman dorms) because we had a big bay window. Bathroom itself was nice until the girls started trashing it by not flushing the toilet, letting the garbage overflow, and leaving hair stuck to the walls.

167-169 BSR, Room 409, no elevator, long walk up. 2 bathrooms shared among 10 people, not awful. Crowded triple, very hot. There is a piano and a tv in the basement though, onsite laundry too.

172 Bay State Road - it's one of the newly renovated ones so the rooms and bathroom is really nice. Dorms are slightly bigger than Warren and you get these big ass windows to see the trees and lets in sunlight. Laundry downstair is pretty convenient.

197-195 BSR is grear in terms of location and has lots of singles, however l lived in what seemed to be a closet at the very end of the hall. It was basically a corridor turned into a DOUBLE room with only one window that only ONE person had the access to. Also there is something seriously wrong with the heating as the building was always boiling hot! Needs to be renovated everywhere asap. Only got lucky with the roommate and felt comfortable after moving around the furniture in the room.
