    New Hall West

    based on 7 reviews

Top floor has (mostly) really tall ceilings. Kitchen is only on 3rd floor, floors 2 and 4 only have lounges. Far from basically everything on campus - West End is closest dining hall and can get pricey. Far walk to downtown Blacksburg. Great dorm, but location is something to keep in mind. - 4 years ago

    Newman Hall

    based on 3 reviews

The previous review from the 2013 poster is wildly out of date. Bathrooms and common areas have been renovated since then, and international students haven’t lived in Newman in years. - 4 years ago

    Payne Hall

    based on 5 reviews

I lived on fourth floor with a childhood friend. We had a great time. When we brought guest over we would bring them to the 3rd or 2nd floor lounge and watch movies, play games, or play ping pong. There's also nice study areas throughout the building. Location is literally one of the best reasons to go to this dorm. It's in the middle of all the other dorms so if you like having friends come over there's no complaints getting to Payne. - 3 years ago

    New Residence Hall East

    based on 1 review

New Residence Hall East is a nice building. It’s pretty new as far as dorms go and the rooms are a pretty good size. However, I found that suite style makes it way harder to meet new people and make friends. In addition, none of the lounges have TV’s to congregate around. The location is pretty central. If it’s important to you to have more privacy, nicer finishes, and air conditioning, this dorm is a good choice. If you’re looking to make lots of new friends, I would not recommend this dorm. - 4 years ago

    Main Campbell Hall

    based on 4 reviews

Main Campbell is one of the oldest dorms on VTs campus, the rooms were small, with paint chipped walls and no AC, but it had a lot that made up for that. Newly renovated bathrooms, definitely the nicest communal bathrooms on campus, great placement on the Drillfield, really easy to get to class, nice common areas, clean community kitchen, even better community of people. Not the best at Tech, but an option to consider! - 4 years ago

    East Ambler Johnston

    based on 2 reviews

Very good location for sporting events, classes, and dining halls. Somewhat far from classes but there is a bus stop nearby and the walks themself aren't bad. Also has great amenities too along with an A/C system with individual room settings you can adjust. Some rooms are different with private baths, more space, and layouts though so hard to find a good room without knowing the dorm itself.

    Special amenities that are available:
    - some have private bathroom but not all
    - private gym
    - private theater - 4 years ago

    East Campbell Hall

    based on 1 review

I liked having an all female dorm! The bathrooms were cleaned often and each one did have a shower room with locking door if curtains made you nervous. Ratio of bathrooms to residents was great and the rooms were all relatively spacious for Virginia Tech and had a sink. As far as location my dorm had a perfect view of Burrus and was located conveniently in the middle of campus. There was only one kitchen for all floors to share so I would recommend bringing a mini fridge/microwave. - 4 years ago

    Vawter Hall

    based on 3 reviews

Clean, social, and unbeatable location! Not having an AC wouldn't be a dealbreaker since it only mattered for the first few weeks of school. Really great kitchen and study lounges, and really clean bathrooms! - 4 years ago

    Harper Hall

    based on 1 review

Harper is a 4-floor suite style dorm with the Mozaiko Living Learning Program on the 3rd and 4th floors and the Cranwell International Center on the 1st floor. Each suite comes with a bathroom to be shared among the suitemates (4-6 people, with 2-3 doubles in each suite) and a common room. The bathrooms are not cleaned by housing, however they come with 2 toilets, 2 sinks, and 2 showers each. The common rooms come with a low table, an upholstered couch and chair, and a wooden rocking chair. There are modern kitchens on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors attached to the big lounge. The majority of the students who live in Harper are a part of Mozaiko, however non LLP members are usually international students, athletes, and upperclassmen. Harper is known to be a quiet residence hall with little social interaction, though there are many cultural events and regular activities held throughout the year. The building is notably further away than other residence halls from both dining halls and the academic side of campus, but West End is right next door and D2 isn't even a 2 minute walk away. If you're looking for a quiet, air conditioned dorm and don't mind a little extra walking to get where you're going or paying a bit more for the luxury, then Harper is the dorm for you. - 4 years ago

    Peddrew-Yates Hall

    based on 3 reviews

Air conditioning during the hot months was fantastic. Suite style dorm with the most common set up being 3 bedrooms (2 people each), 1 common living room, and 1 big bathroom per suite. The bathroom had 2 toilets, 2 sinks, and 2 showers. I am considering this setup "private bathroom" because it is not one of the larger community bathrooms in other dorms. Housekeeping would clean the bathroom regularly. - 4 years ago
