Is Lincoln Avenue Residence the best dorm at UIUC?

Students rated Lincoln Avenue Residence a 3.3/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

Living in the double unit with one roommate didn't pose any issues with personal space or storage room. The desks, beds, etc. were all big enough to be comfortable to use. However, not having A/C was terrible. My roommate and I needed to use little personal fans attached to the ceiling pointed directly at our faces. After a couple of months, my roommate moved out and I had the unit to myself. This was very nice because I had a giant desk and much more storage room. If students get lucky and end up in this situation, the rooms are perfect for one person.

Freshman living in the Leonard side... not too bad. Apart from not having a/c, it's pretty peaceful over here and great location. Close to CRCE (the gym), in-building dining hall, cafes, study spots, the quad, etc. Very walkable location compared to other dorms (six pack, far/par, isr) In terms of not having a/c, my roommate and I had around 5 fans going for the the first 2 months of school. Also having a dehumidifier really helps because all the fans do is move the hot air around. Otherwise, it's really bad and difficult to sleep in these conditions- health concerningly hot. In the winter, the heater is automatic and very loud. Sounds like metal scraping against each other... but you get used to it. In terms of socializing, it's what you make of it. My roommate and I didn't really talk to anyone on our floor because we didn't want to, but a bunch of girls down a couple rooms were really close to one another. If you want to go party, there's definitely people down for that. Apart from the first 2 dreadful months of heat, I definitely would recommend living here!
