Hendrick House Reviews
University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign
Reviews Summary
Hendrick House offers a generally positive dorm experience with a few notable aspects. The rooms are praised for being nice and spacious, featuring ample storage, large desks, and tall windows that provide plenty of natural light. However, some occupants have noted issues with the temperature control, which can be sensitive and require frequent adjustments. The shared bathroom situation, which accommodates four people, is considered a more favorable option than communal bathrooms. The dining hall food receives mixed reviews; while non-vegetarians find it satisfactory with a good variety, vegetarians often have limited regular options. The location of Hendrick House is appreciated for its quiet setting, although it is somewhat distant from campus social activities, making it less ideal for those seeking vibrant social interaction. Amenities are abundant, and being just a couple of blocks from the main campus and engineering quad makes it convenient for engineering students. Overall, it provides a comparable dorm experience with a unique set of advantages and a few drawbacks.

the rooms are nice and spacious. There are enough storage spaces to put a lot of stuff. The only negative of the room (on the west side) is that the temperature control dials are very very sensitive and do seem to keep the temperature constant. I had to adjust the dials 2-3 times a day to keep a constant temperature in the room. Apart from the living space, the food services were good only if you are a non-vegetarian. As someone who is a vegetarian the only regular food options were cheese pizza and salad. Only 2-3 days out of the week was good vegetarian food served which was different than the regular food options.

My experience living here was awesome! Enjoyed the people, food, and living area. Had a couple cockroach incidents, and a couple hit or miss issues with the food, but otherwise, comparatively the best dorm experience I could've had for a freshman year :)

I lived here during the first full year of the pandemic, and I had a few mixed experiences. The room was fairly spacious, has a large desk, and tall windows for natural light. The only issue was the temperature regulation was often all over the place. The bathroom is shared between 4 people (roommate and suitemates), which is much better than a communal bathroom. This may have been due to pandemic struggles, but the food was very hit or miss for the entire year. If you have dietary restrictions, don't expect the food to be of consistently of satisfactory quality. I did appreciate the variety of cuisines they rotated in and out, though. The location is pretty good, especially if you are looking for a quiet dorm. The downside is that it is pr...

Spacious rooms, loved the huge windows and natural light, food was pretty good (especially breakfast). Can be a little bit far from the rest of campus / west side

Best dining hall food on the campus, hands down. You don’t have to worry about associating with the wrong kinds of people because everyone, and I mean everyone, is an antisocial engineering kid in some way. There are plenty of amenities to hold you by without having to leave the hall, and it’s only a couple of blocks down Green St. from the main campus and engineering quad.
