If you’re looking for the best dorms at UIUC, Newman is easily one of the top picks. It’s got a super central location right by the Quad, great food, and tons of community events—it’s probably the most social dorm on campus without being overwhelming. The rooms are spacious, there’s A/C, and you get perks like free laundry and weekly housekeeping, which is rare.
Wassaja and Nugent are also great choices if you’re looking for something more modern and quiet. Both have newer buildings with individual-use bathrooms, wood floors, and solid study spaces. Wassaja especially feels clean and well-designed, but it’s not the most social.
If you care about food and independence, Hendrick House has decent rooms and a quieter atmosphere, but social life and food quality can be hit or miss depending on the year. For a more traditional dorm vibe, Busey is fine, but definitely not top-tier.
