Out of the other dorms I’m glad I got this one! Don’t really have any complaints. Although the front desk is really strict with checking in and stuff
Tenochca is not as bad as I thought it would be. The only problem with the building was a mold issue but other than that it is really nice. It is a newer refurbished building that has enough space for a triple. The only thing I dislike is that it is the building in the back so the walk across the bridge to classes is not fun. BUT it is not as far at the other buildings like Chapultepec and Huāxyacac. There is a lobby section which is also very nice. There’s basically a full kitchen and living room. As far as restrooms it really depends on the janitor. Our current janitor does a great job at cleaning the restrooms and showers, so it also depends on the people on your floor to keep it clean.
Tenochca is a mid dorm here at SDSU. It's not as bad as Chappy or even maya/olmeca, but not South Campus. As most of the sdsu dorms aren't equipped to fit 3 people, tenochca has the smallest rooms for sure. I'm 4'11 and my head hits the ceiling in my top bunk. So if you're not in a bunk bed triple the experience is definitely better. I am giving it a 3.3 because communal living is never going to be the best. The halls are small so you really get to know your floor, I have had a great experience with that. The bathrooms get cleaned a lot during the week but you learn even adults really just can't clean up after themselves and this is the greatest negative factor for me. I don't think the location in walking terms is bad at all from here!
It’s pretty new so everything is nice. Bathrooms get moldy in showers fast and sometimes aren’t cleaned soon enough. Easy to make friends. Pool access is really nice and it’s close to food. It’s near other dorms and a market right down the walkway. Windows give nice lighting and openness. Dressers are small though. Would recommend rearranging beds, desk, dresser, etc because it makes the room feel MUCH bigger.
Pros: Super easy to meet people. A lot of restaurants that are at a walkable distance especially Trujillos. Cons: Far from the Arc
I enjoy living here but I would say that getting along with my floor has helped a lot with that. Being in the same learning community is very helpful because you get to be with people that have similar interests with you as well. One of the cons is that we are the furthest away from the center of campus compared to zura and olmeca/maya but it’s manageable
