Huāxyacac Reviews

San Diego State University

Reviews Summary

Huāxyacac is a modern college dorm known for its sleek design and impressive amenities. Despite its newness, cleanliness remains a daily challenge, particularly in the communal bathrooms, which often require frequent maintenance due to messiness. However, the facility boasts superior bathroom privacy with full door stalls, a rarity among dorms. The dorm is located at a considerable distance from the main campus eateries, posing a challenge for students, though food trucks often bridge this gap with diverse but eventually repetitive food options. The dorm's proximity to the ARC, a central hub for fitness and leisure, is a significant perk. Room sizes are generally cramped, especially the triples, which can be uncomfortable for multiple occupants and leave little personal space. However, high ceilings, a welcoming courtyard, rooftop access, and engaged resident advisors cultivate a strong, social community atmosphere. Security measures are commendable, ensuring residents feel safe within the facility. Overall, Huāxyacac offers a mixed but predominantly positive residential experience.

Living in a Triple. The bathrooms get messy (sink and even the showers) and lots of people keep throwing up, but the staff clean it up so quickly. Far away from the main campus food, but they have food trucks. Close to the ARC (pool + gym) and it does take like 10 minutes to get to the center of campus. Dorm rooms are quite cramped, especially for 3 people. No personal bathrooms. Just use the big stall to shower if you can. I wouldn't want any other dorm than South Campus Plaza though. I rate it 4/5 stars.

I loved living in Huaxy this year. The building is a little far from food and east campus but there’s food trucks, a market, and cafe. The bathrooms get messy but they are way nicer than any other building. The bathroom stalls and showers have full doors which is great for privacy. The courtyard is super nice and the ceilings are high.

Huaxy is an amazing community that is super social. The bathrooms get gross easily but overall the building is pretty clean.

I lived here the first year it was open for freshmen, so the building was brand new and very nice as far as bathroom amenities and proximity to dorms, community centers and study rooms, rooftop access, RA's that were involved with the residents. The dorm also feels super secure with the check in measures; the room sizes were as to be expected but did feel small even for two people. The main downside of living in Huax is the proximity to campus and all the eating places especially. It was a far walk to the main eateries, but they did have food trucks come to help with this problem.

It’s hard sharing a room with two other people especially when one is an alcoholic and doesn’t clean at all, doesn’t do laundry, etc… it would be nice if you were able to have ur own bathroom or sink at least. Bathrooms are always pretty nasty. Location is decent it’s close to the gym but kinda far away from food spots on campus.

It’s a very new dorm, so everything you get and see is super nice. The bathrooms have rooms for the toilet and shower (still communal) instead of stalls. However, for three people in the room size we got didn’t make sense, it was cramped and hard to be in when all of the roommates are in there.
