Ranking the Dorms at SDSU

    Huaxtepec

Featured student reviewFor the most part, I enjoyed living at Huaxtepec because it was fairly new, had a large laundry room, multiple community spaces, and food trucks every weekday. The people were also very social as a lot of the friends that I made lived in Huaxy - 2 years ago

    Granada

Featured student reviewI live in a double, which is a bunk bed and the bedroom is a little small for two people. Overall, the apartment is nice and we have a large living room and kitchen area and good amenities such as in apartment wash and dryers and the common room. - 2 years ago

    Mixquic

Featured student reviewMixquic is the furthest away from all the second year housing "tecs" but it's definitely the most modern. There are 6 people to an apartment with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We had a huge living room, kitchen, and even a backyard (we were a corner apartment, not sure if this applies to the others). However, we were supposed to walk to another building to do laundry (main downside). They definitely painted the apartment to be more modern and pretty good for what we paid for. It's just a small complex and at the end of the Tecs so def the most quiet! - 1 year ago

    Zura

Featured student reviewZura rooms can be tiny sometimes, the way my room is organized there is not much possibility for natural light to come in. However, Zura dorms are relatively clean compared to many other dorms on campus. - 2 years ago

    Huāxyacac

Featured student reviewLiving in a Triple. The bathrooms get messy (sink and even the showers) and lots of people keep throwing up, but the staff clean it up so quickly. Far away from the main campus food, but they have food trucks. Close to the ARC (pool + gym) and it does take like 10 minutes to get to the center of campus. Dorm rooms are quite cramped, especially for 3 people. No personal bathrooms. Just use the big stall to shower if you can. I wouldn't want any other dorm than South Campus Plaza though. I rate it 4/5 stars. - 3 weeks ago

    Maya

Featured student reviewMaya and Olmeca are practically the same, but in Maya you could get a great view of the pool and sunset. Great location and great vibes, and the learning communities are a good pro to living in Maya. The amenities are all amazing, but people do say that Maya is the worst dorm, but honestly it’s been really nice living here. - 2 years ago

    Toltec

Featured student reviewAs a second year, living in Toltec was way better than expected. Before living here I had only heard bad things about the Tecs. However, the living space was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. I share a room with my roommate and we have a walk in closet and a bathroom in our room. I think the sizes of the room are big enough for two people to put all their stuff and be comfortable. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are all good sizes for a college apartment. We have enough room for all the appliances and lots of cupboard space. The only bad thing would be that there are no ceiling lights in the bedrooms or living rooms so they give you a lot of lamps. Overall, I liked living in Toltec and it may be a little farther from campus compared to the other options but having all of the other apartments here is nice. - 2 years ago

    Tenochca

Featured student reviewTenochca is not as bad as I thought it would be. The only problem with the building was a mold issue but other than that it is really nice. It is a newer refurbished building that has enough space for a triple. The only thing I dislike is that it is the building in the back so the walk across the bridge to classes is not fun. BUT it is not as far at the other buildings like Chapultepec and Huāxyacac. There is a lobby section which is also very nice. There’s basically a full kitchen and living room. As far as restrooms it really depends on the janitor. Our current janitor does a great job at cleaning the restrooms and showers, so it also depends on the people on your floor to keep it clean. - 2 years ago

    University Towers

Featured student reviewWell the building is old, some floors were louder than others and it wasn't a bad place to live as a freshman. The setup is you live in a suite so one dorm has you and one other person then you share the bathroom with the people next door, a lot better than having to go to the communal ones. It is nice that there is a dining hall right downstairs. It is a little far from campus but not too bad once you know your way around campus. Overall, it was a great dorm to live in but even better if you have good roommates and suitemates! - 7 months ago

    South Campus Plaza

Featured student reviewEasily the best dorm on Campus, with easy access to all the foods and rooms with tall ceilings. We also have our own bathrooms, so we only need to share with your two other roommates. Our floor is pretty social and it is all freshmen so how many friends you make is purely dependent on how willing you are to talk with others. Lastly, my roommates were pretty chill which also helped my dorm experience. One of them plays guitar and piano so we have a keyboard set up by the window. It's pretty nice and I am super lucky to be in SCP. - 2 years ago
