Is Chadbourne Residence Hall the best dorm at UW Madison?

Students rated Chadbourne Residence Hall a 4/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

Small, bathroom was gross, dining hall was convenient, location and vibe was great. Easy to meet people and close to my classes.

I had really good floormates and had one of the quieter floors. Rooms were small but they can come together if you decorate them right. The bathrooms were okay, the showers didn't really get hot though. Rheta's Market was not doing it for me and I know a lot of people who ended up buying food outside because Rheta's was terrible. The music room is dungeony, but the basement for studying is pretty nice if you want to lose track of time. Location is great.

Chadbourne was where I stayed during my freshman year (2015-2016). As for the size of the rooms, it's much smaller than average. But, if you don't bring everything you own like my freshman roommate did, then you should be okay. My room had hard tile floors, but that's easily decorated with a nice rug. Overall, the building itself was very nice, given how old it actually is. The wi-fi was good, and we never had any bug problems. The highlight of living in Chadbourne was the location – right in the heart of campus and only a few blocks away from Memorial Union.

Location was good, 10min from everything. Flamingo convenience store was also pretty nice since easy access to snacks. Rooms were kind of small but tolerable.

Chad is a pretty good jack of all trades type of dorm. It is in a good location and relatively social, without being an all out party dorm. This is a pretty decent bet for you if you don’t want to be in one of the party dorms, but still want to have access to parties when you want. Rooms are quite small though, but this is just kind of part of the dorm experience IMO. Bear in mind that the top two floors are often known as unofficial international student areas. Lots of people who don’t speak English very well or are not looking to be very social. All other floors are more social. Has amazing views on the upper floors.
