Sellery Residence Hall Reviews
University of Wisconsin–Madison
Reviews Summary
Sellery Residence Hall can best be described as a vibrant hub of social activity, undergoing significant change for the better. Having just undergone a full remodel, its bathrooms are hailed for a fresh and modern look, though it's still possible to encounter less clean conditions, especially after a spirited Friday night. The residence hall's location stands as a uniquely winning feature being near popular hangout spots, dining options like Gordons, the Nicholas Recreation Center gym, and the bulk of the main classes. Unfortunately, some students find the rooms to be quite small and not conducive to studying. The dormitory is prone to noisy disruptions, such as fire alarms and construction work if you lived there before renovations were completed. However, a major perk cited by students is the dorm's proximity to an Amazon hub locker which is convenient for those who frequently order online. Despite the less appealing physical attributes of Sellery that make it seem prison-like compared to newer, upgraded dorms, the social experience is viewed as incredibly rewarding. The sheer number of dorms on each floor facilitates easy networking and the cultivation of long-lasting friendships. Ultimately, your experience at Sellery Residence will largely hinge on the relationships you form amidst its vibrant social atmosphere.

It’s a good hall location wise it’s very close to everything. The rooms are pretty small and look like a jail cell, but if you decorate nice enough it’s not bad.
LOVED SELLERY. Super fun, incredibly clean, great location. Great AC and heating. Wonderful view of the city.
Sellery was just remodeled this year, making the bathrooms super nice and modern. The location is near all of the going out spots, so everyone goes there before. The rooms are small, but newly updated.
It was a very social dorm that is in a very good location on campus. You are in the middle of everything and will get the best college experience living there.
Very location is very convenient. The bathroom are mostly clean. The room however are a little bit too small and not much you can do with it, beside sleep. Not really a good place to study.
My freshman year living in Sellery was not the best nor was it the worst since I live in the unrenovated floors. My bad experiences so far was the numerous amount of fire alarms going off with the most notable ones being the ones at midnight and the ones that happen during construction. Bathrooms are fairly clean, but don’t expect it to be clean after a Friday night. There is no way to control the heater so either you keep it blasting in your room or you open up a window that will cool down your room really fast. Otherwise, Sellery is a good form to start out in. The first week of moving in was really amazing since everyone was very welcoming and friendly to one another especially the neighbors on my floor. Sellery is right next to the Ama...
I lived here during the sellery's big construction year. nothing like the blaring sound of metal banging to wake up in the morning. not to mention the multiple 3am fire drills we had. since i lived here before the renovations, it wasn't really aesthetic. wasn't particularly dirty, but everything was definitely worn down and gloomy. the best part of living here would be the community. there's a bunch of dorms on each floor, which is a super easy way to make friends. also loved how close it was the state st and classes. the bathrooms were okay, but the showers were unpredictable (sometimes hot, sometimes cold, sometimes low pressure, sometime high pressure, etc). solid 3/5
Don't expect much out of living in Sellery; Your experience will largely depend on the type of people you meet there, not the dorm itself, since the rooms look like prison cells compared to other dorms with bigger rooms. It'll probably be just a carbon copy of Witte after the renovation, which will improve the conditions even more. We had free laundry due to the construction; speaking of which, at the beginning of the year i was usually awoken by a jackhammer at 10 A.M., but more recently I've gotten used to it and just slept through the noise. Invest in a pair of earplugs.
Sellery is currently one of the ugliest/oldest dorms on campus. I wish I had lived in Chadborne or a dorm like Witte that has the upgraded rooms.
Party dorm!! This and Witte are very popular and social, being renovated so probs will see improvements in rooms and bathrooms
