Best dorms at UW Madison?

Ogg is a solid choice—good location near classes, newer feel, and has kitchens and study spaces on every floor. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re bigger than average, and the building tends to be pretty quiet overall. Great if you want a mix of convenience and comfort.
Smith is also a great option. It’s clean, updated, and a little more lowkey socially than Witte, but still has a community feel. Sharing a bathroom between a few rooms is a nice balance between privacy and not having to fully clean your own space. Plus, it’s not too far from everything on campus.
Witte is probably the most social of the bunch. If you’re looking to meet people easily and don’t mind more noise and activity, it’s a great pick. Rooms are decent, and it’s one of the newer buildings with solid amenities like AC and onsite laundry.
If you want something quieter and more private, Merit has double rooms with private bathrooms and fewer residents, but it’s definitely less social.
