Is Wiley Hall the best dorm at Purdue?
Students rated Wiley Hall a 2.6/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.
It's a freshman male dorm. Somehow Wiley is more decrepid than Cary despite being newer. Bathrooms are nasty at no fault of the staff and showers are abysmal. Also the trough....anyways make sure you have slides to wear in the shower or you'll get athlete's foot.
Rooms are too small. Too many dorms contain 3 people. Someone keeps rolling oranges under the shower curtain.
Due to overflow housing, we had three people in a two-person room. The people across the hall let their alarm go off when they weren't in the dorm and it was loud enough to hear through the walls for 12+ hours a day. 50% of the urinals were broken at any given point. The showers have curtains and mysterious substances in the drain constantly. During the summer, the lack of AC makes the entire room 90 degrees.
honestly a bit of a sh*thole, but hey, it's cheap. you get what you pay for. bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. rooms aren't bad but the lack of ac really sucks in the summer, especially on higher floors, with rooms becoming 90 degrees even with 4+ constantly running fans. location is great and easily the best part of living here, as you're right next to the corec and wiley dining court. outside of the summer months, living here isnt terrible, at least once you can get past the perpetually horrid state of the bathrooms
Wiley is just what you make of it. The building was built in the 50s and some of the rooms make you feel like it hasn't been renovated since. Generally, not the greatest place on campus to live, but it is cheap. The bathrooms look like someone murdered a paper towel roll a lot of the time and there have been times when many of the toilets just don't work. Due to the overcrowding on campus, many rooms have 3 people when they're only meant for 2. The rooms also don't have air conditioning, which is mainly just an issue for the first few weeks, as the rooms can get really hot. However, the best thing about WIley is that it's in an excellent location. It's right across the street from the Corec and next to Wiley Dining Court. It is also a 5-minute walk from Chick-Fil-A, Ford Dining Court, and Windsor Dining Court. It's also about 10 minutes from most of the academic buildings, and there is a bus stop right outside the building if you want to take the bus at any point. Basically, when living in Wiley, don't expect much and try to spend as much time outside of your room as possible.
