Is Cedarwood the best dorm at Purdue?
Students rated Cedarwood a 2.5/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.
My name is Walter Hartwell White. I live at 503 N Grant Street (Cedarwood Apartments) West Lafayette IN, 47906. This is my confession. Although Cedarwood is in a decent location (right next to Northwestern Parking Street Garage), the amenities are nonexistent and my apartment is full of mold. The laundry room on the first floor costs $1.75 to wash and dry. In addition, the dryers are crap and don't completely dry my clothes. I also don't have a dishwasher, the natural light is poor with being next to the parking garage, the apartment is so well insulated that I can't turn the heat on for more than 15 minutes without roasting, and the A/C unit is only in the living room so the rooms get extremely hot in the summer. But, living in Cedarwood isn't all that bad. I am a 2 minute walk away from Mcdonald's, Insomnia cookie, and Domino's. The bedrooms and very spacious and the closets are well-sized. But, the walls are thin! I can hear people yelling from the 1st floor (I'm on the 3rd floor). There are also no elevators so if you bring furniture you will have to carry it up the stairs. While living at Cedarwood you are required to have a meal plan, I have the 5-meal plan and that is plenty, I would not recommend the 8-meal plan as its $1000 more a year, but the 5-meal plan does not come with dining dollars (if you are addicted to CFA I would not recommend the 5 meal plan). Ford Dining Court is a 10-minute walk from Cedarwood and Wiley 15 minute walk away. I know living at Cedarwood sounds absolutely irresistible, but I've got more good news. The cost to live at Cedarwood is around $8400 per year! This does not include the required meal plan, but you still get the amazing amenities Purdue offers, such as access to the Co-Rec! With all of this being said, I would not recommend living in Cedarwood Apartments unless you're parents are rich or you get a full ride cuz it is not worth it for the price. I get hella financial aid so it doesn't matter for me, but for people less fortunate than me, do not live here. Walter Hartwell White out *drops mic*
