Not sure why Leach is getting so much negative attention here - it's a pretty great place. It has some of the larger rooms on campus, clean and private showers/bathroom, and it's in a beautiful area close to everything. Lots of different kinds of people live here (yes, more on the quieter side but there are definitely still tons of people looking to go out etc.) and I feel like I'm always seeing new faces. The staff here are really nice and my neighbors are respectful and friendly. Northeast in general is a great place to live and I cannot recommend it enough!
The only thing good about this dorm is the location. That's it. The rooms are terrible, the facilities inside are terrible, and bathrooms are even worse. Very little lighting inside the rooms which make it extremely depressing.
Not the greatest building in the world but not the worst on campus either. Rooms are really cavernous; my room had this gross little fluorescent light in it as its only non-natural light source, so that was unpleasant. Bathrooms are kinda yucky but basically doable. Building is overall dilapidated, crusty, and yucky. However, the building nonetheless has arguably one of the best on-campus locations, with easy access to the LGRT complex, Worcester, and the Campus Center building. If you're willing to accept that UMass housing is garbage overall, then I would def consider this building.
Actually one of the worst dorms I've ever had the displeasure of living in. The bathrooms were frequently in utterly abysmal conditions, and the rooms are extremely small and uncomfortable. The only benefit is how close to classes you are if you are in STEM, but it really isn't worthwhile if you go from classes to one of the worst dorms on campus. Any other dorm on campus - even in Northeast, is better than this hot garbage of a dorm. Live elsewhere.
If you're in computer science, any of the natural sciences, or engineering, the pros outweigh the cons. Worcester Dining is really close and most STEM classes are nearby. As far as actual buildings go it's meh but livable.
F**k leach, I said it. Leach hall is really gross, I would say it is one of the worst buildings. I found a cockroach in my room, and my window screen was broken when I lived there. The room was really tiny, I could feel my roommate breathe because of how close the beds were. The kitchen smelled nasty, like no one ever cleaned it. Half of the time the bathroom floor was flooded, and the showers had mold and other things within it that was never cleaned.
