Lewis Hall Reviews

University of Massachusetts Amherst Northeast Area

Reviews Summary

Lewis Hall is a well-situated dorm on campus, particularly beneficial for CS majors, due to its close proximity to classes and the Worcester dining hall. The building itself has been recently renovated, giving the interior a refreshed look, especially the basement which includes a kitchen, lounge, and laundry facilities. While the common areas offer a comfortable environment, the dorm is often criticized for its overwhelming heat, sometimes reaching up to 90 degrees, which can be uncomfortable for residents throughout the year. Room sizes vary; many students appreciate the spaciousness of corner rooms. However, the fourth floor is noted for having smaller rooms and thin walls that may affect privacy. The bathrooms, described as clean, are located on alternating floors, creating an inconvenient situation for some. Notably, the dorm lacks an elevator which may be challenging for moving items. Despite these drawbacks, Lewis Hall is generally praised for its convenience and is considered a decent living option on campus.

its really hot all year and sometimes the water filters are slow but its close to class and dining halls. Also try to avoid 4th floor cause the rooms are smaller

Overall, I think the building and location is the best parts of this dorm. The actual room is alright.

Pros: Rooms are pretty large and comfy. Location is super close to almost everything as a CS major. Basement is renovated so its nice but it's way too hot sometimes.

Cons: Bathrooms are kinda meh, the faucet is too close to the edge of the sink so its hard to put your hands under. The heat is always on so its like 90 degrees in the building at all times.

I lived in a corner room so the room was larger compared to other rooms.
Pros: Lot of space in the room, next to Worcester dining hall, nice people, and CLEAN private bathrooms on the first and basement floor. The basement also has a kitchen, lounge, and laundry machines which is nice to hang out in.
Cons: Bathrooms are on every other floor, men's on 2nd and 4th, women's on 1st and 3rd. Walls are kinda thin. No elevator.

The dorm was recently renovated so the interior of the building is really nice. I had a corner room on the third floor and the room size was quite large for a double. The bathroom had some leakage throughout the semester, but other than that it was fine. The location is really close to Worchester dining. It was about a 3 minute walk.
