Had a great experience at Carlyle. Luckily did not experience any cockroaches or rodents, but did have a toilet overflow. Maintenance came immediately and helped fix the issue. Would recommend for the location and convenience of living near Union Sq.
Location is great! Right on Union Square - near a central hub of subways and a different crowd from WSP! It is only a 10-15 min walk to campus - which is great exercise down University Pl. The dorm consists of three different buildings (1 shared entrance) with a central outdoor courtyard that you are allowed to hangout in. Our room for 4 people included a decent sized kitchen, private bathroom, and dining table. I lived in C2, which I believe had bigger rooms. My roommate and I shared the open living room (we used our desks and a curtain rod/curtain to create a barrier from the kitchen for privacy) and we had 2 suitemates who shared the bedroom. The living room had a balcony which allowed for more sunlight to enter the room. Overall, a ton ...
One of the most fun places I’ve lived. It was beautiful, the courtyard was the best part with an amazing swing and garden area. The location was unlike any place you’d live again, I highly recommend! Kitchen area, honestly wasn’t the best, especially if you’re in the open room.
Pros: very convenient location in Union Square, right next to Subway stop and very close to Trader Joe’s and whole foods, building is generally clean and appealing, has all of the utilities you would expect such as laundry rooms in each tower, a study lounge, an entertainment lounge, practice rooms, etc. Cons: I lived in the open room in a suite, a.k.a. the room that is directly open to the kitchen and common area. It has virtually no privacy and you are woken up whenever someone uses the kitchen in the morning. Also, the rooms don’t have ceiling lights and our kitchen appliances malfunctioned often.
Pros: - The laundry rooms are reasonably reliable and even if one is out of commission you can use the ones in the other towers. - Though there is no trash room on each floor (a feature in some NYU dorms), there is a trash chute on each floor where you can drop your garbage. However, for recycling you'll need to manually bring it to the 1st floor. - The repair service is fairly responsive, which is useful because things break in this dorm A LOT. Cons: - Though the advertising would have you believe that these dorms have two rooms and a kitchen, the reality is that the second room is combined with the kitchen. Anyone living in the kitchen room will be woken up whenever people go for a snack or even to the bathroom, and have virtually no pr...
Lived in open room in a 4 person. Bathroom was inside the private room which was weird but other than that really liked the location, good kitchen, nice building overall. Had lounge room, study lounge, and water bottle filler. Faculty in residence has cute pets.
The location is A1. Right in front is Union Square Park. RWQN456 trains available. Building is a little old (elevator issues) Courtyard is beautiful n great place to study
