Alumni Hall

Alumni was great. The RHD is very toxic and problematic to certain students but everything else was fine. - 4 years ago

Brittany Hall
based on 13 reviews
Pros:
- Brittany Hall is perhaps one of the most luxurious and up-to-date dorms NYU has, which is apparently because it used to be a hotel before NYU bought it.
- The rooms all feature effective climate control and functional bathrooms (although the water pressure is very weak).
- The rooms have fairly spacious closet areas.
- There are two lounge-type areas, a laundry room, and three elevators.
- The rooms have overhead lights (this is not universal among NYU dorms).
- You're within four blocks of at least two different dining halls, and within two blocks from a subway station.
Cons:
- The entire building only has one kitchen, which lacks a lot of important implements, but since this is a Freshman-only dorm and NYU requires a 225 Flex dining plan from first-year students, you probably won't be doing much cooking anyways.
- The rooms do not include a refrigerator. - 4 years agoWe collected 13 dorm reviews for Brittany Hall

Founders Hall
based on 12 reviews
The space is quite large, and it may be the largest dorm on NYU campus. If you live on a high floor and have an even room number, you will have a great view. There are also plenty of common areas in the dorm, which makes it convenient to study with friends. In terms of location, there are many good restaurants nearby, as well as two school cafeterias. You can also easily walk to Palladium for exercise. The only downside is that it may be a bit far from some class buildings (compared to other dorm, but overall, it's still a short distance). I think Founders is a great choice. - 2 years ago

Paulsen Center (181 Mercer)
based on 2 reviews
It's pretty convenient as it is near the Washington Square campus. I feel like the elevators breaking often could use some work as it sometimes takes over five minutes to get down from my 12th floor dorm to the first floor. It is also a little inconvenient to have to take two elevators from my dorm to the ground floor. However, the facilities are new and relatively clean. There are little to no bugs. One thing that may be uncomfortable is that you get no control over the room or suite temperature as it is regulated by the building itself. My roommate thought that the room was overly cold sometimes, while I thought it was fine. The windows are annoying as it has bird-safe patterns (I think), but I mean fair enough. Overall a great freshman year dorm, but if you are into socializing like me I think dorms near Third North would be the best option. - 1 year ago

Gramercy Green
based on 8 reviews
I love gramercy I have a corner room and it is amazing. The bathroom is super nice compared to other dorms. The kitchen has lots of storage space and our suite has a nice common area. My only thing about the suite is that there is no ceiling light but this is pretty common for New York. Only major downside of gram is that getting to school is a bit of a nightmare when the trains/buses are running late. - 1 year ago

Greenwich Hall
based on 2 reviews
I lived in a quad made up of two doubles. Room sizes and shapes can vary a lot in this dorm- my room was pretty small, but others were bigger. Not a huge issue if you like your roommates. Pros include: hardwood floors, housekeeping service for common area/bathroom, lovely, quiet West Village neighborhood, quick walk to the Hudson, and pretty close proximity to campus. People think it's far but it's really only about a 10 min walk to the west end of WSP. Other than the smallish room, my only con was the distance to dining halls (super far from Palladium). But I really liked Greenwich! - 4 years ago

Lipton Hall
based on 19 reviews
Lipton is all around amazing. You have a dining hall and are right in front of WSP. Classes are nearby so that’s also a major plus. There’s a commuter den that’s nice to hangout in as well. There’s a mediation room, dance room + music room. Overall, there’s a lot to love about Lipton. Some people are dirty and like to leave their mess behind for the janitors to clean up and that’s just rude in my opinion. But those kinds of people will be found at every dorm. I definitely recommend Lipton to incoming freshmen! - 4 years ago

Second Street
based on 1 review
Had a double room with spacious bathroom! Very clean but the only problem was ventilation that we got fixed. Small kitchenette with low fridge / freezer storage capacity so have to grocery shop often. was on the 8th floor so the higher up the more the walls shake because it’s a skinny building. - 4 years ago
