Greenwich Hall

I lived in Greenwich hall my sophomore year Spring semester. Greenwich is super lovely in the sense that it feels like a real old-school apartment and less like a dorm room. Very nice hardwood floors throughout, great bathroom, and massive kitchen (if you love cooking, Greenwich is great for that). I had a single in a 3-person suite where the other room was a double. Depending on the room/suite there's a lot of variety, but our room was definitely on the cozier side. Everyone thinks the walk is really long but it's really 10-15mins max, and there's a shuttle that goes solely to Greenwich that takes about 15mins to campus as well that's quite frequent or at convenient class times. And as a sophomore, I wasn't required to have a meal plan in Greenwich hall, so I would definitely recommend if you have the option to not use a meal plan since the dining halls are very far away. And, it's the only NYU dorm room with a free cleaning service (that you don't pay extra for in housing costs, it's just because of how the building was zoned) for your bathroom/common spaces. The only downsides were half the time the elevators didn't work, and that in the shower the water pressure was almost too high that it was sometimes uncomfortable. But other than that I would definitely dorm at Greenwich hall again! I think the best fit for Greenwich residents is loving to cook/bake most of your meals, wanting to feel like you're in a nice small NYC apartment, and enjoying a bit of a walk to campus. - 4 years ago

Great rooms with a lot of space, AC, kitchen, and bathrooms. Easy access to learning center and commons cafe, which is open until 11pm most days. Close to union square and subway.
Bit of a distance from main campus. - 1 year agoWe collected 5 dorm reviews for University Hall

Broome Street

Only real downside is no central AC, so any rooms without windows are warm/stuffy throughout the year, and the location. Kinda far from campus and other upperclassmen dorms that are usually by union but right next to Spring St 6 stop so class is only a 10-15 min commute. The laundry rooms are NICE tho since it runs on an app that tells you when your laundry is finished and they're on each floor. - 4 years ago

Lipton Hall

Lipton Hall is a great freshman dorm conveniently located near Washington Square Park and a 5-10min walk to most of the buildings (CAS, Stern, Kimmel, GCASL, Bobst library etc.) Another upside of living in Lipton is having a dining hall at your disposal. Most freshman dorms are traditional style ie without having kitchens and having a dining hall in your building is a great +
The rooms are spacious and if you're lucky you'll have a great view (I had the view of empire state, a living dream!!) I would say the cons of Lipton Hall are smaller bathrooms and closet space, when compared to other dorms like Brittany Hall. But once you adjust to it, it's really great living there. I know it took me some adjusting especially being an international student but I ended up calling Lipton my home :) - 11 months agoWe collected 19 dorm reviews for Lipton Hall

Second Street

Had a double room with spacious bathroom! Very clean but the only problem was ventilation that we got fixed. Small kitchenette with low fridge / freezer storage capacity so have to grocery shop often. was on the 8th floor so the higher up the more the walls shake because it’s a skinny building. - 4 years ago
