Brittany Hall Reviews

New York University

Reviews Summary

Brittany Hall, located in a prime spot between Washington Square and Union Square, has garnered a mix of reviews from students at NYU. The dorm is praised for its luxurious feel, featuring high ceilings, white walls, hardwood floors, and spacious rooms with modern furnishings. Many students appreciate the convenient location near multiple subway lines, dining options, and bustling city life. The dorm's common areas, recreation room, and study spaces are highlighted as great spots for socializing and relaxation. The dorm also boasts effective climate control, functional bathrooms, and soundproof windows. However, some students noted challenges such as noisy living arrangements, limited kitchen amenities, and issues with water pressure in the bathrooms. Despite these drawbacks, Brittany Hall remains a popular choice for freshmen, especially those attending TISCH, with its cozy atmosphere and opportunities to make lasting friendships.

Every single person who works at Brittany hall and for NYU in general is rude and incompetent at their job. When I initially called NYU for housing, I was hung up on three different times by the same telephone worker. I was also told that I wouldn't be able to move in until a week after I was originally told I could move in (resolved but extremely stressful and time consuming as I had to search for alternate expensive housing options). Upon arriving at Brittany, I was roomed with a male (as a female and having put my preference in as female) (again resolved but anxiety-inducing). The upstairs study room is closed permanently for the summer, leaving few spaces to go to relax. My now roommate had no idea I was moving in, and neither of us had...

Brittany is gorgeous! Being halfway between Wash and Union, it’s super convenient. The soundproofing on the windows is great, and there’s nothing not to love about high ceilings, white walls, and hardwood floors. I’ve never had an issue with temperature or lighting. Highly recommend this adorable renovated dorm…. over even Lipton because of its proximity to other dorms!!!!!

I was hoping to stay in a two-person room, and I was actually assigned to a two-person room in a five-person suite. This caused the room to become noisy very easily. The soundproofing of the dormitory is also not very good. But if you have a good roommate, Brittany hall will become very cozy. It is very close to the school and very convenient.

I LOVED brittany (i am slightly bias since i lived in a 3 person room with just one other roommate bc covid) but it was so nice everything seemed clean and new! The location is great location just a few blocks from washington square and union square. High recommend to freshman (especially if you’re attending TISCH)

Living in Brittany was the beginning to an amazing first year of college. I met all my best friends in this building and it was a gorgeous room.

It’s regarded as one of the best dorms and deserves that rating. Although living with 4 others with one bathroom can be a challenge, Brittany excels in every other field. It’s equidistant between campus and union square. There’s Third North or Weinstein minutes away for dining. It’s right on broadway and very close to the 8th St/NYU subway station. The rooms are spacious and have good natural light. I am so lucky I was in Brittany.

Lived in Lafayette after Brittany and yearned for Brittany so much. Lived on the 16th floor so had an AMAZING view, lived in a triple but the way the furniture was set up made our room feel way bigger so take some time w that. Elevators weren't as slow as I expected, location amazing, nicely renovated so feels like apartment rather than a cinder block dorm, literally fave place I've ever lived.

Pros: Awesome common area and recreation room. My room was quite big, especially since our room had handicapped accommodations. My closet was basically a walk-in closet. I also really liked the location: not too close to campus, but not too far away - close to both Union Square and school! Near to multiple subway lines, too. Bob's Bagels & Il Laboratorio del gelato are also really close. Rooms are modern, spacious, and clean. I think Brittany Hall is the best freshman dorm. Cons: There is a community kitchen, but the tools are not in the best condition and it's not very clean.

Common area is great and there are tons of activities. I was in a triple/double lower-cost suite, where I was in the triple. My room was also absolutely HUGE, even shared with 2 other girls (who I grew to become very close with). Because it was lower cost, our suitemates had to actually walk through our room to get to theirs, but it was never a problem! The bathroom was SUPER small though, especially when 5 girls were sharing it.
