Founders Hall Reviews
New York University
Reviews Summary
Founders Hall, located in vibrant Union Square, boasts an array of amenities that contribute to its overall 3.5 out of 5 stars rating. Known for its spacious rooms - said to be the largest among NYU freshman dorms - it offers plenty of natural light through large windows, adding to its welcoming and airy atmosphere. Each room comes equipped with a full-sized fridge and microwave, which can compensate for the lack of a dorm kitchen. Larger shared bathrooms get a mixed review; some find them outdated while others appreciate their size, though they do require sharing among suite-mates. Sound insulation room-to-room is reportedly good, so noise and privacy aren't typically an issue. A notable feature is the abundance of common areas, promoting study and social interactions. Some students find the distance to the Washington Square campus a downside with about a 10-minute walk, others enjoy the bustling community offerings such as nearby restaurants, stores, and convenient subway access. While some areas, like the corners of bathrooms are prone to mold, the overall cleanliness is generally praised, with the building being just ten years old.

founders hall is really spacious and has great common areas for studying/lounging. i actually love the location as it's right near union square and there's a trader joes near by.
Overall, based on the available information, I would give NYU Founders Hall dorm a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars. While the dorm offers many amenities and is conveniently located, the high cost and potential for noise and crowding may detract from the overall experience.
Since it’s a relatively new building the overall was nice, spacious in the room, the furnitures was standard dorm room setting, however I was not very used to living in dorms, but I made lots of friends and had a easier start with the new environment and school.
Huge spaces and clean bathroom. And the building is new, with a great location. However, there's no indoor laundry or kitchen.
There are huge space, large window and clean bathroom. Room to room sound insulation is good, too, but there's no in-room washing and drying or kitchen.
Great room, possibly the largest dorm among all the dorms of NYU. I had a room in a suite of 4 people with one roommate. The bathroom is just okay cuz you need to share with other 3 people. A 10 minutes walk to the Washington Square campus, a little far but okay. Nearest subway station is 14 st Union square, 5 minutes walk. Great dorm experience cuz I had a great roommate lol. If you have a friend that you want to live with you could apply for the bed swap.
I think Founders is the best freshman dorm it is MASSIVE. The only down side is its location it is not close to campus but it is so spacious its worth the walk.
The space is quite large, and it may be the largest dorm on NYU campus. If you live on a high floor and have an even room number, you will have a great view. There are also plenty of common areas in the dorm, which makes it convenient to study with friends. In terms of location, there are many good restaurants nearby, as well as two school cafeterias. You can also easily walk to Palladium for exercise. The only downside is that it may be a bit far from some class buildings (compared to other dorm, but overall, it's still a short distance). I think Founders is a great choice.
Founders has the biggest rooms of any freshman dorm on campus. Lots of natural light because of the large windows and a really spacious closet. Don’t let the “distance” from campus fool you. It’s a great way to actually acclimate yourself to NYC. The PSOs and building staff are so incredibly awesome. 10/10 experience. The bathrooms are a little crusty and outdated but not tiny!
The rooms are super big and spacious and the natural light coming in from the windows makes it seem even larger during the day. There’s a lot of space between the two beds, so if you don’t get along with your roommate, there is definitely enough room for you to feel like you have your own space. The fridge and microwave are super nice too and since the room is big, you can put a lot more stuff in there (rugs, garment racks, etc.)
