Is Blanton Hall the best dorm at UT Austin?

Students rated Blanton Hall a 3.2/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

This dorm is the worst dorm on campus. You are in danger of walking into the bathroom and seeing the most revolting shit at all hours of the day. It seems like the shit smell from the bathrooms spread to the rest of the building, because yeah your dorm smells like shit. Everything smells like shit. Be prepared to take the stairs everyday because the elevators are either broken, or they move at turtle speed. You would think that with the largest public endowment that The University of Texas at Austin would ensure the safety of their students. However, their poor funding and lack of attention to the brokeness of this residence hall proves otherwise. In addition, your floor mates will be some of the most socially inept people you will have ever met, or some crazy bitches who think they have good music taste. There is no in between. Do yourself a favor and dorm in Carothers or Andrews. Don't do Jester West--it's practically a zoo.

The only problem with this dorm is that there’s no thermostat in the rooms. It gets miserable during freeze as they boil your room and you encounter a couple sleepless nights. The lift is slow. Bathrooms are good.

Blanton is close to the center of campus. (Its right next to tower) It has a good balance of being close to everything (off-campus, Kins, and classes). Recommended for STEM majors since its near those buildings, but not Business majors. No sinks in your bathroom so beware. But a tighter nick community than other dorms. Littlefield cafe is good.

Blanton is considered the most social of the honors quad dorms, and what it lacks in amenities, it makes up for in social environment.

Blanton is a fun experience! The lounge is very lively, and people really get to know each other since it's one of the more social dorms in the Honors Quad. There is an attic on the top floor, so it's a nice place to study late at night. Personally, one of my favorite things about Blanton was the numerous washers and dryers they had in the basement. (I think a few students actually had rooms in the basement but it's not common.) On the downside though, the rooms are on the smaller end. There aren't any sinks; excluding the first floor, there are two bathrooms per level, one for male and one for female. You also don't have any control over the thermostat, so it gets really cold during the winter.
