    Brackenridge Hall

I had a bigger room than the usual jester and the location was far better - its on 21st, there's only few floors to go up, and there's no big lobby to go through. i lived on the ground floor and was able to get on 21st in literally 15 seconds from my room. that made such a difference my freshman year. - 4 years ago

    Duren Hall

    based on 4 reviews

    Duren Hall at UT Austin

The dorm is the newest on campus and pretty modern. Facilities are nice and include study lounges/vending machines on every floor, a mini-fitness center + game room, and a nice formal lounge + outdoor courtyard. The dorm allows you to scan your ID to enter your room rather than use a physical key which is a huge timesaver. The rooms have individual AC units and are larger in space relative to the other dorms on campus. It's also closeby to Kins (superior dining hall) and Guad (In And Out, Halal Bros, etc). The only downside is that the dorm is the northernmost building on campus so it can be quite a walk to get to your classes. This is only noticeably a hassle in the scorching hot summer, otherwise, the walk is enjoyable. - 1 year ago

    Jester West

    Jester West at UT Austin

The dorm was clean and nice. I was on the male end of our floor, and our bathroom was clean. The janitor came twice a day to clean the bathroom, once in the morning and once in the evening. The location was central to everything: Gregory gymnasium, PCL (the largest library on campus), and all class locations. Most people staying there were freshmen. There was activity in the Jester Complex (which is isolated from the room areas) almost 24-7, with the Wendy's closing at 4 AM. However, he walls were super solid so you couldn't hear your neighbors or any thing going on outside at all, so were are no worries about loudness. People say that the dorm is for 'extroverts', but that is not entirely true. Introverts can easily come and crash at night and go to class with no problems. However, if you are extroverted, then the dorm is the place to be because there's just so much activity going on in the area. - 2 years ago

    Carothers Hall

    based on 2 reviews

Lived on the first floor so it lowered my rating a bit. At night people would walk through the hallway and it can get pretty loud. Other than that it was pretty good living here because of the location and overall environment. - 4 years ago

    San Jacinto Hall

    based on 5 reviews

San Jacinto Hall is the most expensive dorm on campus (tied with Duren hall in North Campus). That being said, it is also one of two dorms at UT that solely offers private bathrooms. The bathrooms themselves aren't very modern and are stand-in showers only. The rooms are very spacious in comparison to other on-campus dorms. The laundry room offers about 20-30 washers and driers which is a plus (albeit only located in the South Tower). San Jacinto also houses one of the best on-campus cafes and convenience stores. There's also many study spots throughout the building and is located near the DKR stadium and very close to Speedway. - 1 year ago
