Blanton Hall Reviews

University of Texas at Austin North Campus

Reviews Summary

Blanton Hall has garnered a reputation as a vibrant and social dormitory situated conveniently near the center of campus, right next to the university tower. Noted for being the most communal of the Honors Quad dorms, it offers an excellent social environment where students easily form friendships. However, the rooms are on the smaller side and lack individual thermostats, which can lead to discomfort during extreme weather conditions. The absence of sinks in the non-ground floor bathrooms is another inconvenience. Despite these drawbacks, residents appreciate the daily cleaning of the bathrooms and the availability of numerous washers and dryers in the basement. The attic offers a quiet study area for night owls. While the building occasionally suffers from maintenance issues, such as slow elevators and bothersome odors, its central location and the nearby Littlefield Patio Cafe make Blanton Hall a preferred choice for those who prioritize social connections over luxury amenities.

Blanton is a fun experience! The lounge is very lively, and people really get to know each other since it's one of the more social dorms in the Honors Quad. There is an attic on the top floor, so it's a nice place to study late at night. Personally, one of my favorite things about Blanton was the numerous washers and dryers they had in the basement. (I think a few students actually had rooms in the basement but it's not common.) On the downside though, the rooms are on the smaller end. There aren't any sinks; excluding the first floor, there are two bathrooms per level, one for male and one for female. You also don't have any control over the thermostat, so it gets really cold during the winter.

This dorm is the worst dorm on campus. You are in danger of walking into the bathroom and seeing the most revolting shit at all hours of the day. It seems like the shit smell from the bathrooms spread to the rest of the building, because yeah your dorm smells like shit. Everything smells like shit. Be prepared to take the stairs everyday because the elevators are either broken, or they move at turtle speed. You would think that with the largest public endowment that The University of Texas at Austin would ensure the safety of their students. However, their poor funding and lack of attention to the brokeness of this residence hall proves otherwise. In addition, your floor mates will be some of the most socially inept people you will have ev...

Blanton is close to the center of campus. (Its right next to tower) It has a good balance of being close to everything (off-campus, Kins, and classes). Recommended for STEM majors since its near those buildings, but not Business majors. No sinks in your bathroom so beware. But a tighter nick community than other dorms. Littlefield cafe is good.

The only problem with this dorm is that there’s no thermostat in the rooms. It gets miserable during freeze as they boil your room and you encounter a couple sleepless nights. The lift is slow. Bathrooms are good.

People love to make fun of Blanton but it's honestly a great dorm because the social environment is fantastic. I made a good chunk of close friends just from my dorm. The bathrooms are also cleaned everyday so there is no worry there.

Super small rooms compared to the other dorms in my opinion. It doesn’t really have a ton of amenities, but since it’s part of the Honors Quad, you don’t really lose out on stuff. Like another user said it’s super social, so if you like that it would be a good pick. Wouldn’t pick this dorm over Andrews or Carothers, but if you still want a great location and enjoy the good vibe of the honors quad, I would go for it. Don’t forget about Littlefield Patio Cafe, it was my favorite place to eat on campus.

Blanton is considered the most social of the honors quad dorms, and what it lacks in amenities, it makes up for in social environment.
