    San Jacinto Hall

    based on 5 reviews

San Jacinto Hall is the most expensive dorm on campus (tied with Duren hall in North Campus). That being said, it is also one of two dorms at UT that solely offers private bathrooms. The bathrooms themselves aren't very modern and are stand-in showers only. The rooms are very spacious in comparison to other on-campus dorms. The laundry room offers about 20-30 washers and driers which is a plus (albeit only located in the South Tower). San Jacinto also houses one of the best on-campus cafes and convenience stores. There's also many study spots throughout the building and is located near the DKR stadium and very close to Speedway. - 1 year ago

I HATE THIS DORM. i was just sitting in the lobby after going out and on my phone and this woman at the front desk tells me im not allowed to SIT IN THE LOBBY past 10pm. for the amount u pay to live here i should be allowed to do a lot more than SIT in the lobby. this is insane. also u can only pick up your packages at the times that the staff decides to be at the front desk (they say 8am-6pm but they are almost never at the desk). i will never recommend living here to anyone. its april so im abt to be done and i can sincerely say i hated it. don’t waste ur money, ik callaway is more expensive but i wish i would’ve lived there. - 2 weeks ago

    Blanton Hall

    based on 7 reviews

This dorm is the worst dorm on campus. You are in danger of walking into the bathroom and seeing the most revolting shit at all hours of the day. It seems like the shit smell from the bathrooms spread to the rest of the building, because yeah your dorm smells like shit. Everything smells like shit. Be prepared to take the stairs everyday because the elevators are either broken, or they move at turtle speed. You would think that with the largest public endowment that The University of Texas at Austin would ensure the safety of their students. However, their poor funding and lack of attention to the brokeness of this residence hall proves otherwise. In addition, your floor mates will be some of the most socially inept people you will have ever met, or some crazy bitches who think they have good music taste. There is no in between. Do yourself a favor and dorm in Carothers or Andrews. Don't do Jester West--it's practically a zoo.

    Jester West

    based on 11 reviews

    Jester West at UT Austin

The dorm was clean and nice. I was on the male end of our floor, and our bathroom was clean. The janitor came twice a day to clean the bathroom, once in the morning and once in the evening. The location was central to everything: Gregory gymnasium, PCL (the largest library on campus), and all class locations. Most people staying there were freshmen. There was activity in the Jester Complex (which is isolated from the room areas) almost 24-7, with the Wendy's closing at 4 AM. However, he walls were super solid so you couldn't hear your neighbors or any thing going on outside at all, so were are no worries about loudness. People say that the dorm is for 'extroverts', but that is not entirely true. Introverts can easily come and crash at night and go to class with no problems. However, if you are extroverted, then the dorm is the place to be because there's just so much activity going on in the area. - 2 years ago

    Jester East

    based on 17 reviews

    Jester East at UT Austin

Unlike the common thinking, my floor on Jester East was the juxtapose of it. It was quiet, and everyone was friendly! It has multiple study rooms, and a big laundry room with a nice view of the tower! The elevators are quick, and hot water is not an issue. I would recommend choosing a room in the back hallway if you want a little bit more privacy! Bathrooms are mostly communal with separate shower stalls (with doors), but you have your own sink. You can't control thermostats and the windows are a bit small, but furnitures are movable, which is a plus to reorganize your own room. The location is unbeatable, right where many facilities are! - 4 years ago
