Is Newman Hall the best dorm at Virginia Tech?
Students rated Newman Hall a 3.9/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.
Pretty old dorm with no AC, and extreme heat in the winter. It's co-ed by floors, but it was previously an all male dorm so you'll find urinals in every bathroom. The common space is very lacking and the kitchen is also not great. Never found myself wanting to cook there. Lots of international students there as well, but since I wasn't part of that LLC - I found that most of them kept to themselves and it was harder to socialize. Location is pretty good though, right in front of hokie grill made it super convenient and its probably the closest dorm you can get to the drillfield - so probably the quickest route to classes on the other side.
The previous review from the 2013 poster is wildly out of date. Bathrooms and common areas have been renovated since then, and international students haven’t lived in Newman in years.
Nothing special but nothing wrong with it either. Being located next to Hokie Grill and the library is always a plus.
