Is Plaza Verde the best dorm at UCI?
Students rated Plaza Verde a 2.7/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.
DO NOT CHOOSE PLAZA VERDE AT ALL COSTS They built the apartment very cheap as a quick cash grab and the rent is very overpriced for what you get. The service is also really bad. They do not care about customer satisfaction. They give you an app called Roomsync to request who you want for roommates but often times you don't get the people you want to be roommates with. You also have a high chance of not getting the floor plan you want. Even if you call or email them request them a switch, and you even have someone who WANTS to switch with you, they will refuse saying there is absolutely nothing they can do. Because of this there are many students that secretly trade rooms but many times that can lead to conflict within roommates. The walls are also so thin you can even hear people talking in the room next to you. You can also smell weed everywhere. UCI should be ashamed they are even working with ACC because they do not care about students well-being.
Avoid ACC at all costs. I stayed for a year but management seems to get nothing right. It's always loud because students are always partying, and you can tell that the building was very cheaply made. I also didn't get the floorplan or roommates I wanted, and I know many people that didn't get the roommates they wanted as well, so don't rely on roomsync to find your roommates. Finding people to sublease your apartment over the summer is also a hassle, I wish there was an app or website to find people who want to sublease your place, but nope! $2000 down the drain while I'm out of the country. So if you're not taking summer classes or if you're studying abroad, I highly advise you to just go to find an UTC apartment or anywhere other than ACC.
The hallways are dark and a bit scary. No one really socializes in the hallways like they do in the freshman dorms, so everyone is very isolated. The management and website is also really bad and confusing. They make you do Roomsync to match with your roommates but it's also a really bad app. My preference was only female but they would suggest people that you couldn't room with in the first place like male and gender inclusive. Definitely overpriced for how many roommates you have.
i live in a 2b2b shared plaza verde apartment. apartment itself is so perfect. bathroom is nicely sized and you get your own sink too. my bedroom is shared with another roommate but there's a "dividing" wall that separates us; it doesn't go from wall to wall but it's the perfect balance between privacy and sharing. i love how everything is already furnished as well, including the living room. the apartment is basically perfect tldr. you can't say you lived in plaza verde unless you took advantage of the amenities. study spaces, private study rooms, gym, game area, all of it is so luxurious and makes you feel so productive. i would say there are two downsides: location and parking. location is somewhat far from campus; from PV to social sciences area the walk is like 15 minutes. but buses come and go regularly so in the end it's not really an issue, unless you have to get somewhere that the buses don't go to. the other thing is parking, which is absolutely horrendous. the PV parking structure gets full around 5-6 PM on a good weekday, meaning you have to park at ECPS. again, it's only a 5 minute walk from PV, but it's really inconvenient to not have your car nearby in case of an emergency or when you have stuff to unload. parking passes are also $300 a quarter </3
I live in a 1b1b private apartment in Plaza Verde and the living room is comfortable and large, making it great for having friends over. The bathroom is also really spacious and clean and the kitchen’s appliances are new stainless steel. PV has a great location and nice amenities, since it’s near the Arc, campus, and a shopping plaza. One downside though is the PARKING situation. Horrific. Don’t even consider parking at the Plaza Verde parking structure after 4-5 PM because it will be completely full.
