I currently live in a 2b 2b with in-unit laundry at VDC and I've actually really liked it. The carpet floor can be kinda gross but that is the biggest con and making sure you have a good roommate.
I was in VDC and had a single with a shared bathroom. Pros: single rooms for decent price (compared to the other options around UCI), pretty quiet unless you're very unlucky in your neighbors, you only have to share communal space with ~4 people so things are usually much cleaner. furniture is provided. Cons: FAR from campus, limited bus options, big parking lot but they do check it. laundry room is in a separate building. other than your roommates/housemates, you prob won't get to know anyone else in the building or community. Very few community activities, if that's your kind of thing. Also, you'll need to bring your own cookware and make your own food, cuz no dining halls. Also, no elevators, which is a hassle during move in/out
I lived in a 4BR 2BATH apartment in VDC with my friends. It was pretty great because we would hang out in the living room / kitchen all night and just have fun. The issues that we encountered was a lot of maintenance work. Showers not working , molding walls , broken furniture , broken appliances. And don’t get me wrong they have AMAZING maintenance people who are very attentive , but there’s a big inconvenience in having to have someone constantly fixing your apartment.
VDC is the absolute best value of all ACC apartments. you get a great view of the arc, the rooms are very large compared to most other rooms, the price is decent for a single, work orders are completed in a timely fashion.
