Is Akers Hall the best dorm at MSU?

Students rated Akers Hall a 3.3/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

so fucking disgusting. compared to other schools this dorm is prison! good luck to the freshman in the fall😂😂 like fr prison

This dorm building is incredibly outdated and in need of an entirely new layout. The rooms look like they have not been painted since the '60s, there is almost no personal space for each roommate, and the layout is completely ineffective. Quite frankly, I don't see any redeeming qualities about this dorm.

I was sick for over 2 months and we think it was an allergic reaction to mold. I found a slip dated the summer before I moved in stating that the asbestos had been removed. Yet when they turned the heat on, I had to start taking 2 allergy meds a day and still be suffering.

You’ll get used to it but you’ll wish you live anywhere else. It is also extremely common to get stuck with a fifth roommate which is incredibly annoying since there is little space to move around as is. Being in the same building as the dining hall is helpful but it is arguably one of the worst on campus.

our bathroom was pretty dirty, no ventilation in there. the ceiling there had yellow dots on it, most likely from the poor ventilation. if you don’t get along with your roommates, it’s not the best place to live. for example, if some sort of falling out happens between the 4 of you, at least one person is going to silently lose privilege of sitting in the living room area. like an unspoken norm. your bed area and desk is tight and i couldn’t particularly focus there. east neighborhood is kind of far from campus and i was constantly riding the bus.
