Is Holden Hall the best dorm at MSU?
Students rated Holden Hall a 3.1/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.
Holden hall had a lot of issues with the only benefits were it’s treadmill, spartys, and mobile order with the mobile order being the only special factor with this hall, wonders had a much better gym if you can’t make the journey to IM west which is roughly a 15 minute walk. The spartys in case is much better as well. Overall the hall isn’t bad but it’s really far away from everything and looks like a prison.
Lived in a double suite connected to a bathroom and another double. Rooms themselves were pretty bad but the main level lounge area is beautiful. Lots of spaces through different hallways to do your homework, plus direct connection to a dining hall and a convenience store built in. Despite being on south campus near many of the athletic facilities, you'll probably find it difficult to find a place to fill up your water bottle.
Easy access to your own bathroom, close to most of your classes, and can set your tv in front of the window, but lacks space and is a little bit far from the cafeteria in the south.
Personally I really loved staying in Holden Hall during my freshman year. Although south neighborhood was not my favorite location, it was convenient for football, basketball, and hockey games. In my opinion, Holden is the best dorm building in south neighborhood because of the Sparty’s, Grab and Go Dining Hall, Writing Center, and Fitness Center. There’s plenty of great study spaces and hang out spots as well!
Having this be my first dorm in college was definitely an experience. I loved how close to everything I was, and the random things that would happen at night. I do have to admit that I was on the first floor, and there was a rat problem. I also know the cockroaches were as well. So be prepared. I used to use the to-go orders, which was very convenient for me when I needed to grab something before class. I loved the environment Holden had, and honestly it was a great experience. I guess you just have to be open minded☺️.
