UF Freshman Dorms Ranked
Ranking the freshman dorms at University of Florida, according to students.
Number 5
Broward Hall
Out of 6 Broward Hall reviews , 5 of them said they lived here as a freshmen
based on 6 reviews
"The Broward area is by far the best location to live as a freshman if you want to be central to campus and have easy access to dining halls, libraries, and classes. It is definitely a social dorm that is the stereotypical "freshman dorm" at UF. Important note: bring sweatpants/sweatshirt/anything warm because it stays freezing in the rooms, but you don't want to turn the A/C down because it will get moldy/humid like most dorms will. Overall, I had a great experience at Broward, and I would highly recommend it for incoming freshman to UF." See all 6 reviews

Rawlings Hall

"Even though Rawlings isn’t a pretty or even nice dorm, the location goes UNMATCHED. You have the pod store right out which has a subway and any food you might need, as well as a bus stop to take you all over campus, and also Broward dining right next door. As far as cleanliness, its a dorm and as long as you keep your room clean you shouldn’t have many problems with any bugs (I only had one roach my entire time staying there). The bathrooms are cleaned daily so I never noticed them being dirty, but in comparison to other dorms the quality of the bathrooms was lesser. One of my favorite parts about Rawlings was the Study Room on my floor which was perfect for studying because I was usually the only one out there and I always had my spot which is much more convenient than searching for a spot in Marston. My room had tons of good light and looked out over the bus stop which could be kind of annoying hearing the later gator at night. My room also had a single unit air conditioner, but stayed super cold which I like, but the air conditioner was hot if you tried to switch it to any other setting. Overall I would recommend Rawlings to girls who are rushing and for its location. Other than that its nothing super spectacular. If you want a central location and good close amenities this is your place." See all 7 reviews

Simpson Hall
Out of 9 Simpson Hall reviews , 7 of them said they lived here as a freshmen

"Loved living here my freshman year. It is a little further from classes than other dorms but it has 2 bus stops nearby so i could usually reach my classes in about 10 minutes from leaving. The Chomp It in the area has great chicken tenders and is open until 3 am. The bathrooms are cleaned every weekday and only had problems with some people forgetting to flush on the weekends. The AC works great and you are able to open the windows if it's nice out. The one time we had issues with the AC it was resolved in a timely manner. There are no elevators except the frieght elevators which are only used for move in/out but most dorms at UF don't have them. The area has a really nice room with a projector which we used to play video games with the people in my floor. The room had more than enough space for me and the beds can be raised for extra storage underneath if need be." See all 9 reviews
Number 2
Hume Hall
Out of 8 Hume Hall reviews , 7 of them said they lived here as a freshmen
based on 8 reviews
"Hume will always be near and dear to my heart. This is where i lived my first year of college. It is so ideal having your own sink in your room! It’s a double connected by a bathroom to another double and I don’t remember ever fighting for the bathroom. The only annoyance is you have to go outside to do laundry, especially if it’s raining. If you’re taking physics or are always in the reitz, this is a good location, otherwise, it’s a little set back. It’s only 1.1mi to SW Rec, so you could run there as a warmup! Also, short cut: cut thru jume parking lot, graham hall, and behind gator d to get to stadium rd fast! Like .25mi rather than going all the way around on gale lemerand." See all 8 reviews

Beaty Towers
Out of 9 Beaty Towers reviews , 9 of them said they lived here as a freshmen
based on 9 reviews
"I loved beaty towers! the individual rooms were pretty small, but if you set the beds up in an L-shape or bunked, you’d have plenty of room. the location is great, at most a 10-15 minute walk to my farthest class. beaty is apartment style, so there were 4 people sharing a decent sized kitchen area (with fridge, stove, oven, and sink), and we shared a bathroom which worked out well for all of my roommates. i think beaty is a little bit less social compared to other dorms since there is no common area for each floor, but there is a nearby game and hangout room for all of beaty where i met a few friends during some planned residence hall events! the building isn’t a luxury building at all, and no dorm building really is, but it was a great place to live. i would definitely recommend beaty to anyone! (also, if you’ve researched beaty, you’ve probably heard something about the elevators - when i lived there, the elevators broke down maybe 5-6 times, but there are 2 elevators and only one usually breaks down at a time, so there’s almost always a working elevator to use)" See all 9 reviews
