Is U Square the best dorm at University of Cincinnati?

Students rated U Square a 4.6/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

USquare rooms are available as single or double bedroom. Each bedroom will have two students, and the bedroom itself is a bit smaller than a typical dorm room. The bedroom comes with a walk in closet, and it’s own bathroom. The huge benefit to living in this building is the kitchen and living room/common area. While the room is nice in terms of features, it’s not the newest set of rooms. In 2019, I had stained carpets, many scratches on the drywall, and a faulty water heater. The good news is that anything that needs repairing is quickly addressed by the building’s maintenance, just ask the front desk! This building also has it’s own small gym which I believe is open until 11pm.

USquare is the best campus housing I've lived in so far. It's not owned by UC. Pros: - Natural light - I lived in a corner room with a balcony, but other rooms I visited were also well-lit. - Shared living area and bathrooms were fairly spacious. - Maintenance was quick to respond to and fix any problems. - Washer and dryer in each apartment. - Elevators required a building key fob after certain hours. - Mail room was locked and had security cameras. - Lounge area with a kitchenette, TVs, and some game tables. - Gym with ellipticals, treadmills, and weights. - Location - the crosswalk to Marketpointe is right out the front door. Cons: - Under the jurisdiction of CPD, not UCPD, so you can get in a lot more trouble if the cops get called, but people still smoked weed and weren't subtle about it. - Weed aside, the halls often smelled bad. Once, it reeked of poop all the way from the far end of the building to the elevators. (Thankfully I couldn't smell it inside my apartment.) - Small bedrooms. If they hadn't had two closets, I would think that they were originally intended for one person. - Fridge and kitchen storage were barely enough, even though 1/4 of us had a campus dining pass. - Unlike UC-owned dorms, the hot water wasn't endless. - Packages were left on the floor in the mail room instead of behind a desk. - Being on Calhoun St, it's noisy at all hours. Lots of ambulances, motorcycles, pointless honking, etc.

Good apartments, but for a price that may be too high for many. All amenities of a typical apartment present, including oven, microwave, washer, and dryer. BIG bathrooms. Good, clean and comfy carpet. Many times, your floor may smell bad because the garbage has not been removed by the facility on time. But that smell does not enter into your apartment. It’s on Calhoun St. Many restaurants nearby. Have their own garage. Very safe. The alarm system is loud enough to kill you from a heart attack. If you ask for maintenance at the lobby, they will help you and the guys would be there to fix in a day or two. Floors 2 and 4 have a shared computer and a printer that’s free to use for any resident. Good lounge area and gym. 4.5/5.
