Is Siddall Hall the best dorm at University of Cincinnati?
Students rated Siddall Hall a 2.5/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.
It’s a good choice for a first year student. Easy to make friends in this hall and is convenient. The area is surrounded by homeless people, so be aware and be safe.
Awful place to “live”. Rooms are small when we got there the walls of the room was coated with gum. Every single bathroom stall had broken locks, so ended up going down to the lobby every time I needed to use the bathroom. Floors are loud at all hours (particularly if you are on the CCM FLOORS). Someone vomited in the hallway and it was left there for 8 days and the RA said “who ever did it has to clean it up” and I had to step over it everyday. There is also a 0 percent chance you are going to get an elevator and you are better up just taking the stairs. The communal laundry space often has broken machines. It’s also not uncommon to have internet issues. Only good thing is that it was close to CCM, so after working there late at night (3am sometimes) it was very safe getting back home. They also clean the bathrooms at night and are stopped from entering while they clean (which takes a long time, and when you are back late at night the last thing you want to do is have to wait an hour to use the bathroom.
Pretty average dorm. The beds are standard Twin XL beds. I'd recommend bringing some sort of memory foam mattress topper. The rooms have air conditioning/ heating, but you cannot control the temperature (It's all the same temp throughout the building). You can however control the intensity that it blows at. The bathrooms are communal, and they certainly aren't the nicest bathrooms out there, but it could definitely be a whole lot worse. For the showers, definitely buy some sort of shower shoes... There are three elevators that are fairly fast. The laundry is in the basement. All of the washing machines work, but a handful of the drying machines are pretty crappy. The building is pretty close to CCM, and it is connected to MarketPointe. It is also really close to the amazon pickup location so that was nice. On each floor, there's a little 'kitchen' area. Basically, there's a sink, an oven/stove, (which I wouldn't exactly recommend using) and a microwave. The social aspect can vary depending on your floor, but on my floor, it wasn't too outgoing. Don't get me wrong, I made a handful of good friends on my floor, but for the most part, everyone kept their doors closed. The dorm as a whole is pretty active when it comes to social events. It's not uncommon to see people hanging out on the lobby floor. The second floor is the study floor. For the most part, everyone is respectful and is quiet when they are on the second floor. Overall, I enjoyed living in Siddall.
Was in a single on the 8th floor, (which has a beautiful view of campus, minus the light from nippert pouring in at all hours), pretty quiet where I was, but not for everyone. Not very social in my experience, but I also didn’t try very hard. Shower stalls are fully enclosed with doors, so even though they’re communal it feels a bit more private. Felt pretty clean overall, but could have been better. Closest to CCM and pretty close to Teachers. Most annoying thing I experienced was them turning the heat on the second it got below 70 which would make the room crazy hot if you had been blasting the AC. Also joined with MarketPointe which is pretty solid and consistent.
