    Cole Hall

    based on 1 review

    Cole Hall at Vanderbilt

"living in cole is convenient! it’s close to everything on main campus and the room has enough space to be comfortable. there’s honestly not many people, so you don’t run into others often— especially since you can exist peacefully in your single. (the seminar room on floor 2 is nice for studying in groups!) the bathrooms are definitely on the worse side of things but are at least clean! (the cleaning lady is the sweetest <3) if u choose a room on the left side of the 2nd floor, ur room is going to be 80°+ because the maintenance room is under you. it’s awful in the summer/fall. (use 2 fans and keep the windows open!!) i’ve never heard noise through the walls/floors but you can hear everything in the hallways. everyone really minds their own business & things are pleasant! def recommended if you can’t get into a residential college with better AC!" - 1 year ago

    Morgan House

    based on 2 reviews

"I lived in a 3-person Morgan apartment and shared the double room with a roommate.

    Pros:
    - Next to the Rec and Blair if you're someone that goes there a lot
    - Has a Munchie Mart on the first floor if you need some quick food
    - Apartment-style housing is nice in my opinion. You get your own bathroom (huge), a spacious living room, your own kitchen (huge, even if you're not a frequent cook), a storage closet (you can use this for suitcases, cleaning supplies, etc.), and get to control your temperature
    - Bike parking is plentiful, and some are protected, which is good in case you have an e-bike
    - You're next to the 21st Ave parking
    - Morgan circle is super accessible and makes rides to and from the house just a little easier
    - The sunset views can be lovely if you're on a higher floor (but you will get used to them quickly)
    - The laundry room is much bigger than the Commons ones, but that's because more people live there [Side note: The dryers caught on fire at least twice during my year, which led to it being closed for a few days. I hope you learn to remove your lint from the dryers unless you like causing fire hazards]

    Cons:
    - You're pretty far away from main campus (~10-15 minute walk) and Commons (also ~10-15 minute walk)
    - You're closest dining hall is pretty much Zeppos which is still about a 10-minute walk
    - Don't over-rely on the Munchie Mart. Although I listed it as a pro, you will get tired of Highland Sushi quickly
    - If you get the double room and share it with someone, know that these rooms are small (definitely smaller than some of the Commons double rooms)
    - THE ELEVATORS---All caps might be dramatic, but this is something to consider when looking for housing. The elevators frequently (let's say every 2-3 weeks after the first 2ish months of school) break down. You might not think that one elevator needing maintenance is a big deal since there are 2 elevators, but it will slow down movement because lots of people live in Morgan, increasing your elevator wait times. [Side note: if you plan to live in Morgan during the 2023-2024 school year, OHARE announced that one of the elevators will be under maintenance until around Halloween. If you have the choice between Morgan or Lewis, I would choose Lewis for this reason alone because they offer the *exact same* rooms, except you will have functioning elevators]
    - Elevation---this is like a half-con, but if you're coming from the VA hospital side, there are quite a few stairs to get to Morgan

    tl;dr
Living in Morgan is nice because you have your own bathroom and kitchen (and you're close to Blair and the Rec if you go there often), but be mindful that you're far from dining halls, and the elevators tend to shut down. " - 1 year ago

    Mayfield Place

"I have really enjoyed my living experience here. This dorm consists of living with 9 other roommates and I feel like I have gotten to create great friendships with my roommates through living together in a Mayfield." - 2 years ago

    Lupton House

    based on 2 reviews

"Locationwise, yes it’s the best but if you’re not in gl, DONT LIVE HERE. There are always parties and noice. U can’t even sleep. Rooms look depressing and there’s no sun light. The worst dorm at vandy tbh." - 1 year ago

    Kissam

    based on 9 reviews

    Kissam at Vanderbilt

"Hands down one of the best places to live on campus, especially if you manage to get one of the 4-, 5-, or 6-person suites since those are massive and a great place to host parties. The singles and doubles are also decently sized compared to the older dorm buildings. Both communal and private in-suite bathrooms are kept super clean and tidy.

There is Fresh Baked every Sunday evening, where the faculty advisor invites all residents up to his apartment for free baked goods. Having easy access to Kissam Center and a munchie mart is also a godsend. You also have card access to Moore College up til midnight every night so you can also use Moore’s common areas, study rooms, kitchens, etc.

Only pet peeve is that it can be a bit socially dead compared to the non-residential college dorms where most parties are held, though that can be a good thing if you’re looking for a more quiet place to live. It’s also a bit far from the Rec Center.

Still, it’s one of the most desirable places to live on campus. Unless you have a friend willing to pull you into their suite when someone else leaves, winning the upperclassmen housing lottery to get in here (or any other residential college) can be tough. Happy housing games and may the odds be ever in your favor!" - 4 years ago
