Number 5
Martha Cook Building

"I lived here for 3 years. For those who may be more shy and introverted, this is an easy way to make friends based on the fact that it's a small dorm and there is a real sense of community. There is a ton of within-dorm traditions and activities that you can partake in (or not, I didn't do a ton of stuff through the dorm). The building itself is old but beautiful and depending on if you stay for more than one year, you can get a really large double or single. The dining hall is only for residents and I never got bored with the options. The bathrooms are fine, there are several kitchenettes on each floor, a hang out space in the basement with TV, piano etc, and two large living spaces. However, the best thing is the LOCATION. I would roll out of bed 10 minutes before class and be in Angell Hall on time. Close to Law Library, Union, Ross, and the walk to the Big House is very short. " See all 1 review

Alice Lloyd Hall

"Alice Lloyd has it all. The location is not too far from anywhere, the Hill is the *perfect* atmosphere to live in, and everyone says "Oh wow I wish I lived there" anytime it comes up.
This may be because I got lucky with a larger-than-average room for Alice and my friends got unlucky with a smaller-than-average room for Mojo, but my room is legitimately twice as large. That's not an exaggeration lol." See all 4 reviewsNumber 3
Stockwell Hall

"Smaller dorm with a really nice location. Close to central campus and right next to the CCRB and CCTC. Has a grand circular study area with other smaller lounges. Since it is on the smaller side, there is not as much amenities as other dorms like west or mojo, but is a great place to be if you want a less populated area with close proximity to central." North Quad
67% of student reviewers lived here when they were a sophomores
based on 3 reviews
"This is my first year on campus and NQ is definitely one of the best buildings. I have a single which is very spacious and I share a bathroom with 2 others that is key-carded so only we can get in. Every dorm has AC, a window, hardwood floors, and modular furniture. The bathroom has two sinks and then the toilet and shower are together behind another door that is lockable. The layout is great because it means your roommates can go brush their teeth and get ready without you having to worry about them seeing you in the shower or whatever. Also, the shower pressure and internet are both very good. NQ is a great dorm and I can’t imagine living anywhere else for my first year here." See all 3 reviews
Number 1
Bursley Hall
29% of student reviewers lived here when they were a sophomores
based on 7 reviews
"Bursley may have a notoriously negative perception relative to the other dorms, however, if you end up in Bursley don't be too bummed cuz there are actually many perks!
Pros:
-On North Campus which is ideal for students with a lot of classes in the SMTD, STAMPS, CS/Engineering buildings
-Right next to the NCRB which is a newer recreational facility
-It's quieter and typically has less construction going on relative to Central Campus
-You'll get to catch wild animals like deer and raccoons in nature
-Routes/trails for running
-You'll likely get to bond with roommates and hallmates - take advantage of communal spaces to make friends (like basement area is a good place to watch movies), can also consider joining the living communities
-There are frequent recitals and art events since SMTD students and events are concentrated on North Campus
-Walkable distance to grocery stores (Kroger, Way 1 Supermarket, and other restaurants)
Cons:
-One of the older dorms - white lighting in halls (felt lowkey dungeon-like but you get used to it lol)
-Will likely need to bus to Central - most freshmen classes and activities are concentrated on Central Campus (bus stops are right outside the dorm, run frequently, and you can track them with the Michigan website/app however...buses can get very packed and dirty)
-Relative to Central Campus, you'll be further from downtown Ann Arbor
-There might be no AC :/
Sorry I don't have any good pictures but the ones on Google Maps/Images are very representative! " See all 7 reviews
