Stearns West Hall Reviews

University of Colorado Boulder LLC

Reviews Summary

Stearns West Hall, colloquially known as "Will Vill," offers a mixed bag of experiences for its residents at CU. The dorm is located far from the main campus, necessitating the use of the often-busy Buff Bus, which can be inconvenient for those attending classes. Despite its distance, the dorm fosters a strong sense of community, with many residents forming lasting friendships. While some describe it as resembling a "soviet era apartment block," others appreciate the ample parking and the convenience of nearby facilities like the dining hall, Sprouts grocery store, and various dining options. The dorm offers a range of accommodations—from standard dorm rooms to apartment-style living with private kitchens and bathrooms, particularly on the 10th floor and above. However, challenges include insufficient laundry facilities and small, occasionally unkempt community bathrooms. Stearns West Hall's blend of solitude and social opportunities makes it a unique place to live, especially for those open to the experience.

Stearns West is probably one of the worst dorms on campus due to its inconvenient location, dorms filled with mold, broken ammenities, and more.
- Stearns west is in will vill which is very inconvenient and takes much time to get anywhere. There is the buff bus, but it is always packed and full and I find myself waiting for an open bus for hours at times. Especially in the winter it is a total nightmare.
- You are very secluded from the rest of campus so unless you go out, it is difficult to meet friends on main campus. I was lucky enough to meet some of my best friends in will vill because we had to form our own community being so far away.
- You spend so much money on Ubers and transportation if you don't have a car. I would recommend ...

There are no pros to living in Stearns West besides the amazing people I met, but here is a list of cons:
1. Black mold in the vents made my friends and me sick constantly. So we complained to CU Boulder, and they did nothing to solve the issue.
2. Distance: Prepare to pay hundreds of dollars to get anywhere on Main Campus or the Hill. You must also be prepared to leave 30 minutes before you need to get anywhere.
3. Buff Bus: You must take this to get anywhere on campus. Half the time, it is too full to get on, broken down, or 30 minutes late. They are also poorly marked, so I ended up on East Campus half the time.
4. Rooms are small besides the apartment styles, which are an okay size. But they are also disgusting and haven't been cleane...

Worst dorm at CU. Its ugly and far from campus and so inconvenient so get to classes and to go out. DONT REQUEST THIS DORM (unless you are weird and you like quiet lame stuff). Its so hard for me to go to my classes because its so far from campus that end up not going because it takes forever. Also the elevator SUCKS it takes forever and it smells like weirdos and one is usually broken. Good luck if you get stuck in the jail towers. I hate this dorm because as someone who likes to go out and party this dorm and sucks because it is so far and its filled with weird people. Also the laundry sucks because there is not enough washers and dryers for how many people that live in the Hell towers. Also the windows suck I have one small window in the...

I was lucky to get a very good sized double room. Aside from the building being slightly old, it worked great. The community bathrooms are small which keeps them private, I never had any issues! I was terrified to live in Will Vill, but I would now seek it out. I met all my best friends here, and the strong sense of community makes it very worth it.

i had an apartment style and it was super convenient!! the location and community was super great and it's right across from the dining hall and next to the bus stop. it's close to sprouts as well as cosmos and some other food places. the only negative honestly is being so far from campus but i would say it evens out, especially with the RAP classes that are at willvill! definitely a little harder to make friends but if you put yourself out there it's awesome!!

So idk about the regular rooms but 10th floor and above are all apartment styles, you get your own kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and living room. Stearns central is really nice and the hall always has random little things going on. The only downside of living here was that it isn’t on main campus so you need to take the bus to get there, generally leaving 30 mins before your class starts let’s you get there on time. But will vill has their own dining hall, ups store, and gym so if you really don’t wanna take the bus for those things, you don’t have to!

Aside from location and the dreaded buff bus, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Met all my close friends on my floor and loved the size of the rooms and expansive grounds. Was also great having Sprouts across the street. Go WillVille!

This is probably one of the worst dorms on campus, but i still had a good time. The bathroom on my floor was very gross (ceiling paint chipping off, always very humid, etc.), but the rest of the floor was always kept very clean. My single dorm gave me plenty of space. Despite these things, I had a great time living in WillVill and loved the fact that I had some distance between where I slept and where my classes were. I met my best friends in this building, so try not to worry too much about your freshman year building.

We had a closet for a room. There wasn’t much community. It was like living in a soviet era apartment block. WillVill isn’t as bad as ppl say in terms of amenities and stuff but by god are the strains towers terrible.
