University of Colorado Boulder Dorms Ranked

Ranking the best sophomore dorms at University of Colorado Boulder, according to students.

  • Number 10

    Libby Hall

    based on 2 reviews

"Libby is one of the older halls on campus, so take the following with a grain of salt. The air conditioning in the rooms is pretty unreliable, especially in the warmer months of the year. The rooms can get uncomfortably hot, especially at night. On my floor, the bathroom sinks had very poor water pressure, which was only ever an issue once it came to washing dinnerware and utensils. Several of the dryer machines didn't work properly all year either. The rooms themselves are also quite small when compared to the other dorms around campus. With all this being said, however, I'd still recommend Libby Hall. It's location on campus is phenomenally convenient, and the classes offered by the Residential Academic Program are great. If they ever get the dining hall it used to have back, Libby would easily be one of the best dorms on campus." - 4 years ago

    Buckingham Hall

    based on 7 reviews

    Buckingham Hall at CU Boulder

"Buckingham is such a nice building. The rooms are really spacious, air-conditioned, and its a newer building with lots of study rooms and a movie room. Due to Covid this year I didn't get the full experience of what life in Buckingham hall would be, but because spent a lot of time in my dorm doing my classes it was definitely one of the more ideal dorms I would have liked to spend my time in. Its nice that the dumpsters are really close and access to the road and parking lot so if you have a car, need to take an uber, or pick up door dash, it's ideal to just walk out the back door and get a ride. There is a gorgeous view of the Kittridge pond but that also means its a longer walk to get to school buildings. I had my own bathroom so I didn't need to use the public ones but the public ones have about 4 toilets and 3 showers so there isn't a lot of privacy compared to other dorms which have individual bathrooms. Overall I think Buckingham is a good choice if you're CMCI" - 3 years ago

    Williams Village North

    based on 5 reviews

"Probably the nicest looking/cleanest dorm out of all the dorms in BoCo, 7-9 mins from campus on bike, but it always felt nice to feel like you're getting away from school when you're done for the day, Also had a routine student BuffBus that has synchronized times for pickup to the main campus. 1 min walk from the dining-hall. All of the rooms had AC controls (majority of others do not) as this dorm was the latest to be created, big parking lot, if you opt in to buy a parking pass, elevators are huge spacious, lounge/common area was enormous (a lot of ping-pong/piano/smash bros tournaments) Every floor has study room suite area, basically this place is epic and plenty to do outside amongst the other village dorms as well. The only downfall is some will throw a bit of shade for living on the farthest dorm from the main campus! Definitely recommend" - 4 years ago

    Kittredge Central Hall

    based on 6 reviews

Kittredge Central Hall at CU Boulder

"This building was renovated in 2016 ish so it’s pretty new and well done. There are two towers connected by a skywalk, Kitt North and Kitt South. I lived in Kitt South where the global engineering rap was located. It was super cool bc the rap had several classrooms that could be used as study rooms as well as free printing and a small library. At the base of the North tower were more classrooms and a small market/coffee shop that stayed open pretty late. Rooms are decent sized but most have hardwood floors that could get kind of cold in the winter. I had a semi private bathroom (shared between two doubles) and it was pretty large and easy to keep clean. Overall, I really enjoyed living there!" - 4 years ago

    Smith Hall

    based on 3 reviews

"Overall a good dorm, probably one of the best on campus!

    Pros:

Good location (on main campus, lots of amenities, really pretty spot)

Resident Parking nearby if you have a permit

Single rooms (attached to a double with a shared private bathroom) available

Air conditioning (lots of CU’s dorms don’t have it)

    Newer building

    Not much noise

    Plenty of common areas

    Large rooms

    Cons:

Not enough laundry machines, and they’re expensive ($1.25 each for washer and dryer)

Difficult to leave by car during rush hour

Has a weird locking schedule—you have to go through the main entrance after 8 PM.

Kitchen is well stocked with some niche supplies (like a stand mixer) but lacks some basic equipment (like a strainer).

Pro tip: the air conditioning only goes down to 73 degrees. If you’re like me and can’t sleep if it’s over 70, this is much too hot. To remedy this, invest in a bulk pack of 40 hand warmer 2-packs (about $25 on Amazon) and a roll of tape. Tape the hand warmer to the underside of the thermostat—this tricks the system into thinking the room is much hotter than it actually is, and runs the air conditioner even if the room is under 73." - 4 years ago

    Arnett Hall

    based on 1 review

"I really enjoyed Arnett! It’s one of the newest dorms so it has air conditioning and heat —which really comes in handy. The rooms on the second floor have lifted ceilings so it feels very spacious. There are study rooms and laundry rooms on almost every floor. Additionally, because it is a smaller dorm that offer RAP classes, there is a great sense of community. The staff is constantly hosting events and activities." - 4 years ago

    Williams Village East

    based on 3 reviews

Williams Village East at CU Boulder

"The building is by far the nicest one you can stay at with heating and air conditioning, elevators, ethernet, and a laundry room with around 20 washers and 20 dryers. I stayed in a double single suite which is two singles connected by a bathroom and I was very happy with my room. Hard wood floors were definitely nice as well as windows and I had a sink in my room but I believe only the suits did. The building is the newest dorm and unfortunately because of that it is the furthest from campus and the buses can be a hassle where I would leave the building 30 minutes early and still might be late to class if I took the bus. But walking is easy and there are bikes which are free to rent and you can get to any class in 10 minutes on bike or skateboard. I think what Will Vill in general lacks in distance from campus it makes up for as it has the best culture of any of the three neighborhoods as on warms days the field would be filled and there were many Will Vill specific events that took place. Will Vill also has it’s own rec center and dining hall which was amazing. You will also be walking distance from many restaurants and a grocery store which is definitely a plus. If you bring your car parking will be no issue as there are massive lots as well as a side gravel lot for overflow parking but you will need a parking permit. Overall I recommend will bill over any other dorm I saw as long as you don’t mind the distance from campus." - 2 years ago

    Andrews Hall

    based on 4 reviews

"Andrews is absolutely fantastic. Recently remodeled, I got a unit that shared a bathroom with a double next to us.

The most special thing about Andrews is the community. Because it's where the engineering honors kids live, there's a really special camaraderie. The director of the engineering honors program also lives in the dorm with his kids. Free coffee and tea bar, and the biggest kitchen on campus.

Just as a heads up though, there isn't a couch or chair in the entire hall that hasn't seen some romantic action. The couch is in the rec room are the worst for that." - 4 years ago

    Reed Hall

    based on 1 review

    "Pros:
Location - close to C4C/ engineering side of campus (just walk through hallett)

Front Desk - no front desk which is great if you like to party late and not have to walk by the RAs, sucks if you get locked out though since you have to go to Willard to get a temp

Amenities - kitchen/bathroom are small but still really nice to have, especially the bathroom, not having to share a communal is a dream!

    Cons:
Size - one of the smaller dorms on campus (3 floors), so depending on what type of person could be a pro or con

Age - Reed is an older dorm that hasn't been remodeled in a while, so no AC and the rooms are not the cleanest. Also had kind of a lounge, but it's in the basement and out of the way if you aren't in the basement

Price: not sure on the exact price, but it is a bit more expensive than other dorms, mainly because of the kitchen and bathroom, but I think it is worth it.

    Overall:
Reed was an awesome dorm to live in my freshman year and I would highly recommend others to consider this dorm!" - 4 years ago

    Baker Hall

    based on 3 reviews

    Baker Hall at CU Boulder

"This is by far the best dorm on campus. It is one of the few with AC, and is central to almost all buildings. It’s the most recently renovated.
Tip: If you want to meet a lot of people very quickly request a triple or quad room in baker and it will become the floor hangout very quickly. I lived in a triple and we always had far more space than was used + We were able to have lots of people over to hangout." - 4 years ago
